Bill Chapin lived in Havasu for a long time and I would see him a lot especially in the earliest of hours at body beach. He was always trying to keep his new products, proto type parts, and testing on the down low. He was also kind of grumpy too in his old age and had the "get off my lawn" mentality a lot times to strangers.. This one morning my 10 year old Daughter and I went down there to ride and hang out for the day, Bill was just leaving next to us. About 30 minutes later my Daughter see's something on the bottom of the beach in about 4 feet deep water. She dove down and it was a proto type ride plate that had slid out the back of Bills truck on the tail gate. Then, about 30 minutes later here comes Bill, and boy oh boy was he the nicest guy in the world now when asking about a ride plate and if we found one...lol It was golden! hahahaa RIP Bill Chapin! :) I had and bought a lot of R&D parts especially in earlier Kawi and Team Butch days..

Great story!

I imagine he did have to do a lot of on the water testing.
