SXR R&D Head

Hi guys

I have bourght this SXR with this engine

Does anyone knows this head? And what is the specs? Domes?

And what is that in the right side of the picture? A little box? ( just behind the Top end )

What do you think is the performance HP of this engine?

I don't have an answer about the R&D head but the little box is the brain to your water injection setup, there is a solenoid near your exhaust manifold that is controlled by it. These work awesome for low end torque but somewhere on your machine is a water strainer that could/may need some attention. Some of the filter/strainers are a bowl type that needs to be cleaned out periodically (Factory Pipe made one that worked awesome as a pass through strainer that self cleaned)

how does the ski run? that should be a good setup. the little box controls the solenoid on the front of the head pipe. im guessing the r&d head is around 175 - 185 psi

yea, that's water injection for the exhaust. That head is the cast pro series R&D head. Do yourself a favor and check the compression. I had the same head on my Kawi 800, and only made 155 psi. R&D advertised 180 psi.I milled it beyond the oring groove and went with a stock head gasket and made 190 psi. just a heads up.

The ski is heading home from England ( I live in Denmark ) So it's home in aprox 7 days.

Mine said 180 too. Only hits 155.

2011 sxr stock head around 180 ,i put the R&D on and had about the same ! put the stock one back on and sat it on the shelf as a spare !
