Other quick disconect for stator

cleaning up my ebox and wondering what all my options are for a quick connect for the stator wires so i can remove the ebox without removing the motor. ive found a couple diferant six pin connectors for around ten bucks it seems. what is everyone else using?? anything on mcmaster car???

Before you do this, ask yourself how often you need to remove the ebox from the motor completely and if it is worth the risk of a messed up stator due to bad connections.

IMHO, an ebox done right doesn't need to be removed from the motor.

That said, JSS does a nice job with what you're after.

JSS sends his back with optional waterproof bullet connectors, nothing fancy and proven to function well in salt environments.

Personally I don't bother. I don't pull mine often enough to risk another corrosion point.

IMHO, an ebox done right doesn't need to be removed from the motor.

That said, JSS does a nice job with what you're after.

yea pretty good point. and yea i dont have the money to spend on jetski solutions. i figured if i could doit for cheap itd be worth it but yea i guess i dont plan on taking my motor out all the time. thanks.

You can order just the bullett connectors from him for cheap. They work great. I haven't been able to find ones like his anywhere else.

For a while there, it seemed like I was pulling my motor every week.
I put my fish-cleaning board across the rails and would spin the motor around as I removed it and placed it on the board. I wouldn't have to remove the e-box.

I'm sure this would work in reverse.
Also, I don't have a garage, so I used a hefty bag stapled to the board if the motor was gonna be out for a day or two.

IMO, do everything else b4 cutting those wires!

They are fine for freshwater. I filled them all with grease for Daytona last year and my total loss never skipped a beat in the salt. No doubt they wouldn't be ideal for regular saltwater use.

What about the GM weather pack connectors? How do those hold up in the salt?

Bingo.. Thats what I use. Watertight, with die electric grease. They are the shiz. I love being able to pull the ebox. I use the JSS solenoid terminal relocators also, so two nuts, two plugs, and sparg plugs and I can pull the ebox right out. I haven't had any issues with corrosion in over a year with this setup, maybe 10% of that was salt. I've had connectors corrode in fresh water though, and these are still golden.

Salt is not as evil as everyone seems to think. Well....O.K. it is. But a little prep b4 riding (whatever you spray your motor down with) and some attention after riding (freshwater rinse & spray down again) Has seemed to work for those of us that ride salt 100% of the time.

I used the weatherpack connectors and they worked great.

weather pack does not equal water proof.


any electrical connection that is exposed to salt water will fail. I've soldered, heat shrunk, and ruberized connections (all 3 at the same time) that still ended up failing. The best bet is not to cut you wires.
