Questions about first jetski superjet/blaster

I'm looking to get a stand-up jet ski and need help. first I'm still debating whether or not a should get a stand up or just go with a sit down(water is kind cold here).

It has to be under $2,000. I found a 1994 super jet 700cc in perfect condition(30 original hours) and it comes with a bunch of unopened aftermarket stuff(pipe, manifold, flame arrestor, impeller) and no trailer and needs battery. It's $2,500(a tad out of my budget).

I also found a stock 1993 super jet for $1,200 no trailer perfect condition(50hours).

The last ski is a 1997 wave-blaster 1, 701 engine, factory pipe, aftermarket seat, bars and paint. $2,000 OBO

What are the top speeds of skis like this? I'm about 175# so will these be powerful enough for me? Any other comments? Which would be more fun. Could anyone post some videos of blasters and super-jets(no fancy tricks just riding around). How much are skis worth, the superjets seem overpriced?

welcome to the boards.

first, get a wetsuit for your climate, no need to ride a couch. I personally thing it's colder to ride a couch than a stand up if you have the right wet suit.

if you are looking for a good deal i would look for prices like this:
$0-1,100 for a pre 94 650 square SJ (if it has the motor is upgraded to 701 treat as a 94, 95
1,000 to 1,800 for a 94/95 701 square SJ (1,800 better have some nice mods including a "B" pipe)
2,200+++ for a 96 to 2006 round SJ

prices could go slightly out of those ranges if the ski's are exceptionally nice or if you are in a location that is very hard to find ski's.

It's importaint to note that the square and round share ALOT of parts including the bottom half of the hull. One of the biggest changes that happened with the body chage is the motor. Same displacement but 2 carbs and 10 more HP.

edit:
$1200-2200 93-95 blaster (single carb 701)
$1500-2500 96 blaster (dual carb)

thanks, I know I need a wetsuit. I was told on PWCtoday that a 2mm suit is fine, I wouldn't ride if air temp is below 70-75F.

I really want to get the 701 but it's so expensive. I will contact the guy and see what he says.
What should I offer him? It has protec pipe/manifold, K&N flame arrestor, ride plate and impeller. All these parts come unopened(ski is 100% stock). The ski has about 30 hours and is looks to be in perfect condition. It does not have a trailer and needs a battery. it is a 1994.

just get a good thick wetsuit and buy a standup.

I think a 2mm suit works best for me in the summer and fall, unless the water is really cold then a dry suit is they way to go. Anything more than a 2mm might be to hot in the summer.

I would go for the standup as well,l but then again I absolutely love riding my blaster... Where I ride the watertemp is about 50F, right now the temp has been about 65-72degrees, but like the others said, you will continue to ride when it gets colder... Just ad some bypass fittings to your feet, and they will be toasty..

For BONE stock, You really shouldn't pay more than $2000 (for 30 hours).
I would see if the guy would take $2000 in CASH for the package.
Not over the phone, not via e-mail, but in person.
Walk up with 20 $100 bills.
You also need to be prepared to walk away if he doesn't accept it.

IMO, i dont think it talks....but rathyer the scent of crisp hundred dollar bills.....


you dont have to be unintersted, just let him know your not afraid to walk away.....




when you get ready to make your offer.......dont ask if he'll accept XXX$, just take the $$ out and say "ill give ya XXX"

Is the 701 engine a lot more power(especially with those mods) than a sj650 stock? Should I just buy the 93 650 or really try for the 701?

I'd try for the 701 cylinder. IMO it is a much better cylinder than the 650 cylinder. The exhaust port on the 650 cylinders is much smaller than on the 701.
