Just saw on the news that an accident occurred today just south of the 34th Street Bridge in Ocean City. 1 person is dead and 2 were injured, when the skis collided head on (the direction he was pointing seemed to be back in the marsh). I'm not sure if the person who died was on the ski by himself or was one of the two riders, as the news did not have much information, but they did say they were in their 20s I believe. They did report that no alcohol was involved.

A rider is a rider whether they are a sit down rider like me or a stand up rider. My condolences go out to all involved especially to the family who lost a member.

It definitely will have me thinking twice about riding back in those marshes.

sorry to hear about the loss.... it only ride in march i can see over.... but on a good note my boat won;t be ready till after labor day so i am pretty much done riding for the season... no need to be harassed by the SP again and again... apparently rec riding in the surf with a helmet on warrants me getting a safety check.... i stay away from every body stay away from the swimmers and i still get harassed

There was a boat accident on saturday too. A speed boat lost control and a lady on the boat broke her leg.

I was there for that and in fact was shuttling a guy from another boat to their boat (he had a med kit and a splint) using my ski. They ended up riding up onto the marsh about 15-20 yards.

The guy they almost hit told me he was fishing, they were going about 40, tried to avoid him and lost it and went up on the marsh. I kept my mouth shut but I find people who sit in channels and fish pretty annoying especially where the channel gets narrow and that's the case where it happened.

I hung around until the State Police showed up and then gave the guy with the med kit a ride back out to his boat. He said she was banged up pretty good with probably a break, guess he was right.

I was going to load up and they shut the ramp down with all the EMT's and fire personel. I will always say that the people that fish in OC have no respect for anyone. Not eleven the tow boat that was carrying the EMT's to the seen.

Ocean City also had between 5 and 9 inches of rain yesterday. Even when it wasn't raining the visibilty was not good. I would imagine that had something to do with it.

Boat crash near Ocean City kills man, seriously injures another
Monday, August 28, 2006
A Pennsylvania man died yesterday and another man was seriously injured when three personal watercraft collided in a creek near Ocean City, police said.

Brian Krisch, 28, of Conshohocken, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene, a creek off the Intracoastal Waterway near the 34th Street Bridge, Sgt. Stephen Jones of the State Police said last night.

The driver of a second personal watercraft, Timothy Kern, 23, of Chestertown, Md., suffered serious head, back and neck injuries in the accident at 1:57 p.m., Jones said.

Kern was flown by Southstar medevac to Atlantic City Medical Center in Atlantic City, where he was listed in serious condition, Jones said.

Kern's passenger, Michael Love, 14, of Woodstown, sustained a broken leg and also was airlifted to Atlantic City Medical Center, Jones said. He did not know if Kern and Love were related.

The driver of the third personal watercraft, David Thompson, 28, of Philadelphia, had minor scrapes and was treated and released from a hospital, the sergeant said. He did not know which hospital treated Thompson.

According to Jones, the two Pennsylvania men were southbound on the creek when Krisch collided head-on with the northbound craft Kern was driving. Thompson, who had been riding alongside Krisch, was sideswiped by Kern's watercraft.

"The investigation continues," Jones said, adding no summonses have been issued.

"We have no speed estimates to give out at this time," he said. Speed limits are set by the width of the waterway, and Jones said that distance was not available last night.
