put my ski together and no start

Well I put my ski together after reinforcement, and the engine would turn over, but not fire off. I pulled the plugs and looked to me that they were flooded. Checked for spark and I had good spark. Cleaned the plugs and tried again, nada. This went on a few more times, and even changing to new plugs. Im thinking this mofo has to fire off, good compression, ignition and fuel = a running motor (timing is good) JSS stator and coil so Im thinking im good to go.

Once more cleaned the plugs but this time I sprayed some carb and choke cleaner in the plug holes and BAMN!! Fired right up.

Now im thinking WTF?? Fuel is about 4 months old.

What is/was the problem? Anyone had this happen to them?
I guess I will remove the fuel and blend in some fresh fuel with the old, there was only about 2 gallons or less of the old fuel.

Everything is obviously fine. Forget about it and have no hesitations running it in salty surf. This problem will not resurface.

:haha:

Mick knows a thing or 2.

For S&G, have you checked the timing?

Is the gas old?

Double check the ground connections all over.

Gerry, I removed this motor, did reinforcement on the hull and reinstalled the motor. Its not the timing.
The ski starts up and runs now, I just had to use the Choke cleaner that one time to initially get it to fire up.

Yes Im thinking its due to 4 month old fuel.

gas is gone bad. it wont fire. drain the tank blow out the lines put fresh gas i bet it starts right up.was the tank sitting with the neck open?

did you purge the lines, filter and carbs b4 that 4 months, or did they sit with fuel in them? you may need to clean your carbies.... or contract it out. lolz.

I was going to say sounds like the diaphrams may have gotten stuck and were not pumping right or some of the circuits were clogged.

I thought that too but why wouldnt the motor fire off when I primed it?

I would think it would at least fire and die when ran out of fuel if the carb wasnt dumping fuel.

Like I said once fired off with Choke Cleaner, it fired right up and keeps fireing up. Maybe the fogging oil I used when I last shut the motor down had something to do with it, but I never had this problem before.
