SXR Pullin out the stock box trumpets

So,

Im about to throw on a wet pipe. Any of you guys that take out the trumpets ever have any issues with water ingestion? Seems a little open to me.

I block off the front intake and have a 800gph bigle and a versiplug so....cant imagine too much water will be in there.

Thoughts?

I dont ride surf....just flat crappy lake water

it doesnt take on enough to cause any issues does it? Otherwise I will just throw those things back in.

You'll be fine with them out, your better off doing that than putting regular flame arrestors on...they take on water pretty easy.

I run 2 K&N filters with outer wears. I get a lot less water intrusion then I did with the stock cover and trumpets removed. Probably the biggest help with keeping water out of the carbs is to not roll your ski over on the carb side when doing tricks.

I rode mine without trumpets today, was tryin out new footholds, subbed twice, took in enough water to mess me up for at least 30 minutes... just kept sputtering and not runnin great till it cleared out. It started actin up immediately after I subbed it so a bildge and versiplug wouldn't have helped at that point in time. Also didnt help that I took off the tubes that come down from the hood. Just got done putting trumpets back in and that tube back on. I have the front intake on the hood blocked off too and it still took in enough water.

I like to do subs....I think I should be okay though. I still have the tubes on the hood, well I cut one of them to clear the wet pipe but I also have a versiplug and 800gph bilge so.....I guess we will see. I do think that not rolling the ski over on the carb side after doing subs and stuff is probably a safe way to play it. I ride only lake water so... I got a few months to think about it anyway.....im broken.....I cant even lift my leg let alone throw it in a foothold and ride.

I run twin Tau Ceti's, no outerwears, no tubes, no blockoff plate and I get intrusion issues on subs also.
