problems with 93 sx750 need help!!!

Engine problems!! Any Suggestions!?!?!?
I bought this ski last year and since I got it, it never ran right. The guy told me he had just put a new carb on it and all I needed to do was just adjust it, yea if only it was that easy... I got screwed:buttkick:. So I took it out several times tried all the adjustments, it seemed to improve alittle not much. It won't take off fast, and the low end is weak along with the top end. It only tops out at 30mph. On the trailer it sounds awesome, but in the water under a load it's just a dog. I tried many things to fix it with no good results. I switched the carb compleltly, didn't help. I test the compression... everything is perfect there. I put a new intake grate other one was cracked. I tried a new impeller also. Everything seems fine. The only thing left I can think of is that the motor was ported for a pipe or something along those lines.
If you have any ideas on what else I can check on it, or why it would be running the way it does just let me know please!!!
Thanks.

Rebuild the carbs.

Just because you tried a different carb doesn't mean that isn't the problem.

If you turn the speed screws on the carbs, you should be able to change the attitude of your motor dramatically. If turning the screws doesn't change what the motor does, you should probably rebuild the carb.

I know what one cylinder feels like and if you're breaking plane, you're running on both.

I'd do a leak test on the engine. Block off the exhaust and intake with freeze plugs from lowes and put about 5-10 psi (10psi max) and see if the pressure holds. I'll help walk you through the leak test and the stuff you'll need if you want. It's not expensive but may require removing the engine.

replace fuel lines, filter, blow out reserve selector, make sure the in tank screens havent collapsed limiting flow.
Strp dow nthe mikuni and put it back together.
It is a PITA to rebuild and get a Keihin right
but once you do, they are fine.

Its probably the stator, the symptoms closely resemble those of carb problems, no amount of carb rebuilding or screw turning will make any difference if the stator is bad,if you can locate another stator you can swap out do it it only takes a few minutes.

On the trailer it sounds awesome, but in the water under a load it's just a dog.

possibility of water in the cylinders? have you pulled the plugs to see? could be a leaking head gasket into the cylinders which is why it runs great on the trailer but once its in the water it gets all messed up.

The Doo is right, if you can get yoru hands on another stator its a gravy job to change out, the stator is mounted to the front cover and not behind the flywheel like the other Kawi ski's so its SUPER easy to change.

We checked the head gasket, and replaced that also, so it's not that for a fact. I also know it is not running on one cylinder, checked that also. I was wondering if the guy we bought it from might of had the cylinders ported and a rebuilt carb on it, and then took the pipe off when he sold it to me, would that porting of the engine cause the way it has been acting?? I also thought stators either worked or didn't work I didn't know it would still be able to run, just not good.
Let me know thanks.

i lost a whole season of riding because of a bent crank. hard as hell to dignose but even the slightest bend is killer. how old is the crank? have you ingested water in the carbs?

all of my 750's would act freaky when the stator was going bad. i don't think i ever got a year out of them though.
that was the only thing that would go bad ( and spark wires)
john at jss rebuilds them solid, and seem better than stock.

perhaps the pump is worn? did you check the impeller clearance? how is your compression guage? do you have another to verify your test?

Stator's on them motors are a known bad deal, one reason we almost always switch to the 650 style ignitions on our X2's. You might be able to verify it with a timing light that has the retard feature.

If you don't want to believe me fine, I am giving you the benefit of my knowledge so you don't have to keep chasing your tail on this thing,I had a couple of these run me through the wringer before I figured out what was going on with the stators. One was on my seacouch with the 750 engine it,acted like carb was stopped up,it happened suddenly ,one day it worked the next it didn't,that happened twice with two different stators.I also had on on an sx with a pipe duals ,flame arrestors and a head.It would'nt get out of its own way, swapped out the stator readjusted the carb where someone else had misdiagnoised it and started twisting screws and it ripped.

Hi my name is tom and I have a stator problem, I didn't want to admit it at first but now I am coming to terms with it and I feel hope again.

uh dude- you said yourself you checked everything else. so.....get a used one and get back on the water, if its still frucked then coil or do it the other way around. borrow a coil from a buddy if you can.

post where you live maybe someone is close and has a known good part and is willing to sell it if it fixes the problem?

or keep doing what you are doing-I did- took me 3 seasons to finally order a trigger coil.
