Pro-tec half girdle

The bracket isn't the hard part, it's getting the hardware together that usually ends up being a pain in the ass.

Grainger if you have the time to sort thru it all.

That or like I did for one, my local "machinist" supply store.

Either way is much cheaper, just make sure yo ask for and get that parts in S.S.

grainger, mcmaster, fastenal and others don't supply the coupling nuts that are needed... from what I have gathered in my research is that those coupling nuts have to be custom machined... good thing I know someone that has tons of them... hehe :shhh::shhh::shhh::shhh:

Edit:

What size coupling nuts are needed? My old boss says he can get me about any size I need. In S.S. too.

Thanks

10mm x 1.25 on both sides of the nut if you want to utilize a 10mm long girdle bolt...

or you could use a reduction coupling nut which has 10mm x 1.25 on the case side of the nut, and 8mm x 1.25 on the top side of the coupling nut.

but i just thought of something... you'll need 10mm x 1.25 studs to connect those coupling nuts to...

or if you want, you could just go with long 10mm x 1.25 girdle bolts that go all the way down into the cases... since a half girdle only uses three of the six cylinder to case case bolt locations i don't think compromising the cylinder base gasket is really an issue especially if you only install one girdle bolt at a time.

but i'm a hack, so what do i know??? :dunno:

Why do I not believe that last line. lol

As you stated, there is a few ways to do this.
How about someone, anyone, who knows just what exactly is included in the Pro Tec kit lists it here? This way I can get a complete list of parts.

Hell, tell me any way you would like this done and a list of parts.

Thanks

I have a Greater girdled head, so my parts list will be different.

pro tec's kit contains one of the following for each corner of the girdle kit

1- 10mm x 1.25 stud
1- 10mm x 1.25 coupling nut
1- long 10mm x 1.25 girdle bolt
1- flat washer

all components stainless steel.

But as I stated earlier, i think not using a stud and coupling nut would work, and be much easier to work with, especially if you want to later you need to remove the stud.

I have a complete half griddle kit that I am not using. Great shape. I just have to remove all the parts from my 701 cases.

$85 is a fair price obo.
