I recently bought a Pro-Tec 1/2 Girdle head w/ domes and A Mach II Pipe with elect. water injection for a 61x 701. I needed some O-Ring's and also some missing hardware for the girdle kit. So I called Pro-Tec expecting to have as much trouble as I had with my west coast head's when I needed O-Ring's ! Well I also needed alot of help on this questionable electronic water injection. It was unreal they knew exactly what I had and they knew exactly what I needed they had the bolt breakdown for which stud's I needeed and which washer's I needed they also sent me the water routing for with or without Elect. water injection on this pipe! It caught me off guard actually I did not realize that Pro-Tec is still here. I knew at one time they of course made pipes but I thought they were gone!! Well fact of the matter is they originated what Factory pipe is now getting famous for the adjustable water screw's in the headpipe and also having the technology so advanced to know what jet size to use in the manifold feed for what motor 61x or 62t. Oh Yeah let the debates begin but I have spent alot of money for used FPP Product's because I got :):):):)ty service from them and now I have done alot of research and own a few used Pro-Tec setup's now I gotta tell ya I am impressed. i think the difference with protec and factory pipe is in the design of the exhaust itself, the protec is big and heavy, realistically you have to run a girdled head with it, i know guys who didnt and cracked there cyclinders. with a factory pipe you can run a none girdled head...

in regards to performance... it becomes a debabte and im sure this will kick off the factory dry pipe debabte too... personally i have ridden a ski with all three (not all three on one ski... obvioulsy)... didnt really notice performance differnece between them... if your pipe s set up right it will kick ass

sound like the set up you have will be a great set up...

good info and shoudl be an interesting thread

I am really gonna start having to question the real knowledge in this forum now. Maybe the X needs to break off again like it did from P dub yesterday in January 06.

Start a rec ride site....and keep the X for free ride.

Because in the last 2 days I have read that Kawapiggie SXR's are not to heavy and now this.

B pipes need nothing with them. Bolt them on and rip hard. NO BS.

You could add a B pipe to a brand new SJ with nothing else and FEEL the money you spent immediately. It can instantly make you a better wave rider.....all by itself.

Oh.

I didn't think FPP's service was ever rated highly therefore I guess I read in to that.

I have never had to deal with FPP except when ordering brand new pipes....and that was easy as.....well...ordering a pipe.

It is winter and I am ready for some good common sense arguments!!

My goal is and has only ever been to see people launch reliable affordable skis to the moon.

I've been pretty happy with my protec pipe - and had very similar customer service experience. The pipe came used with a motor I bought, and I wanted the instruction manuals and a few parts and they were more than helpful with it.

I still want to upgrade to a bipe sometime though.

I have had B pipes and they are a great pipe no argument there. I have also tried to get help from them haha good luck. I have not got this ski all put together yet so I don't know how well it will perform, but everything I have read and researched about pro-tec is that they are really good at what they do. The watercraft market is just not where the money is for them anymore as far as volume.
They have turned more to the Motorcycle and ATV market, never the less I am really pleased with there service and support. All I have to say is if pro-tec started competing with FPP lol they wouldn't be around very long.

its not quite that simple... you have to re-jet at least and set your carbs

but if you were to add any aftermarket pipe to your ski you would feel a difference... its not unique to a b-pipe

b-pipes have become to pipe of choice no doubt, but there are other options out there

FPP would not worry about Pro Tec IMO. They are OE exhaust on a LOT of products.

I meant a B pipe all by itself (excluding jetting of course...although some have claimed they didn't even need that!) will make a ski more fun and more ridable. No water injection.....no headaches......just great performance on everything from 650's to 865's...

You have to add that and total loss with advanced timing to get any other pipe to perform like a B performs right out of the box.

Yes I suppose it could at that point beat my 48.5 MPH (GPS) ski but honestly......who cares!? What good is a 62MPH ski out side of a course.

B pipes dominate the free ride world.

b-pipe do kick ass! even if they are 20 year old design. you can use another pipe but why? the b-pipe offers lightweight, minimal space requirement, multi chamber options, adjustable headpipe, decent hp gains on any motor, easy to install and service, and IT STAYS TOGETHER. A new pipe would have to have all this and more hp gains to make me switch. long live our precious valuable b-pipe!

Well Steve you were right about this becoming an interesting thread. MADMAT I think you missed the whole point! No actually I know you missed the whole point.

Blah blah blah Superjet rules blah blah blah B-PIPE,way to think outside the box Motorhead

just because you can only afford ghettosakis from peoples' backyards, doesnt mean that SJs and b pipes arent all theyre hyped up to be. theres a REASON people choose SJs and b pipes...... and its not because its 'the norm'. nothing about standups conforms to 'the norm', anyway.

i had a FFP in my kawi 750 sxi and a FFP in my 89 js550. FFP just makes some great pipes for more reasons than just hp.
