Other Primer plunger rebuild

I saw the article on green hulk about rebuilding them, its very helpful!

I measured and found O rings to fit, and wanted to post it up here ( mainly so I wont forget)

they are a -012 O ring.
3/8" ID, 1/2" OD, 1/16 CS

available in bunyl or viton ( viton should be better here)
mcmastercarr of course has them in both variants.

thats a good price on the primer pump whole.

I got the O ring for 59 cents from an auto parts store, but hardware stores will have them too.

it was a hurry, and cheap sort of deal.

and when you break the knob off just pull it out a little w plires , drill a hole in it and put in a key ring

nice find, I replaced all of my plungers with the bulb style primers, but have a box full of plunger ones that could use a rebuild.

They all seem to be made cheap. Makes "Made in USA" look bad!

All of our viton seals swell for methanol use and from our charts at work, ethanol and methanol exhibit the same characteristics on orings and seals. We use buna-n (nitrile) for everything. If you use E-10 gas, you might want to see if those are available in nitrile, they might last a bit longer. The gas/oil mixture might counteract the effects by lubricating, I don't have any info on that.

I consider replacing the primer part of my 'summerizing' procedure every year for the RN and SN. Just like putting in new spark plugs.
