Porting advantage?

This is for the guys who can testify. I'm in the market to get the "baby scream" treatment from Team Scream. I'm not asking about Team Scream's creds...I feel they are the guys to deal with if you want to do this. That being said, those of you who have had a freestyle port, from anyone, on your stock bore and stroke SJ, how much of a difference did it make from prior to being ported? I'm gonna be at the end of my bolt on mods...Riva head/35 domes, Bpipe (limited chamber), msd TL, hooker prop, got a set of OEM 44's but may grab some NOVI 46's. No money to go stroker and don't want to add the expense of a bore job on top of port work. I've got all the same mods on my SN with a stock carb. I didn't want to have 2 ski's with the same setup.

It is a huge difference. That's all I can say.
Comparable perhaps to stock pipe, stock impeller vs aftermarket pipe, aftermarket impeller.

(I assume proper tuning and proper porting by someone who knows what they are doing)

think about getting the team scream intake set up first if you're doing things in stages and saving money.
you give him (or have him provide) a manifold and new makuni carbs. he does the mods to those and uses kawi reeds/blocks, spacer, mayber a suffer too.

A guy in my group has that + advent ingtion on a stock motor. his power is pretty unreal.

chucky is going to tell you to do it to complement the porting anyway.

Huge difference...

I went from stock engine, stock bore, stock stroke. All I had done was I ported my cylinder, fresh bore w/ new pistons, and ported my ex. manifold and head pipe.

I was grinning the whole ride. I loved it.

Since then I had added a set of kawi style engine couplers and that only increased my throttle response.

All in all I spent about $1050 to have it done.

I found a hot rods crank with about 1 hour of ride time. Had porting done, fresh bore, hone, and new pistons and slapped her back together.

Hot rods crank - $215 shipped
Porting of cylinder (exhaust ports widened, transfers cleaned all the way down) - $340
Porting of head pipe and manifold - $120
Bore and hone - $80
Weisco pistons - $250 for the pair
base gasket, ex. gasket, intake gasket - $20
Shipping $20-25

Had my buddy Carl assist me in re assembly. He has over 25 years of PWC experience and is the largest wealth of knowledge I have come across thus far.

I have riden alot of ski and motors, I do have to say this. from stock to a baby scream, you will see a big difference for sure.

Alex, ant, d slicker, wheels, and more dont want to list all day.

they all have standard or 1 over bore... and they freakin rip....

I would get one in a heart beat.

My advice is not to just do the porting... but do the carb and exhaust mods.

What goes in must come out... the ratio from intake to exhaust needs to fairly match so motor can run with the most performance...

my 2 cents

I stand behind xscream 100% if your not happy with their motor, I will buy it off you...

I love the port job Chuck did to my cylinder. I've gotten the exhaust pipe porting, now I need to do the intake porting.
