polystrythene foam and 2 part??

Are all you guys that are using polystrythene foam using 2 part as well to fill in the voids? I know some are but wasn't sure if anyone was just running the poly foam.

I figure that as long as I sand the foam so that it sits flush on the bottom for a sturdy tray I should be alright. The hull should be as strong back there as it is in the engine compartment so I'll just do a couple layers of 8oz on the sides and back.

I plan on running 2 small drain plugs in the rear.

I did polystyrene as much as I could and then used 2-part to fill some voids up top and to give some structure to the tray.

X2 - the superjet tray is not as strong as the kawi tray. I reinforced the entire inside of the rear of my superjet and still used some 2 part just to make sure it solid.

To re-attach the tray I'm thinking about using two layers of 8oz cut into strips along the cuts, then 2 layers of 8oz across the whole thing. Will this be enough, I see some people using panel fuser?

Panel Fusor works great for footholds.

When I glassed my tray back together I used two layers of 8.5oz... one strip about 2"s wide and another about 3" wide over that, both layed up at the same time to get a good chemical bond. And only went over all of the seams where I cut the tray apart. I didn't go over the entire tray, but I also packed my poly foam in there tight, and used 2 part to fill any gaps.

remember to just use enough epozy/resin to wet out the cloth, do not over use it as that will make it weaker. Try to work out as many air bubbles as you can.

Take a look at my build. I did the entire bottom deck in 100% poly foam, and probably 60% of the gunwhales in it, only 2 parted the areas I wanted to carve out/shape.
I sealed the bottom from the top, so hopefully the little 2 part I used will remain dry.

And just how often do you have gasoline running through the (supposedly) sealed backend of the hull?

I ran just poly under the tray...loosely. But I reinforced and resealed the hell out of everything under the tray also. I haven't got a chance to test it yet though, there is a snow on the ground. The whole reason I started the project was because I put my foot through the stock tray last year.
