No offense taken. Well, the head and the cylinder are seperate parts, and I am sure that most people don't rework their head when they bore their 701 a little, but for a big change like going 760 then I am sure the squish needs to be reworked, plus I'd like more compression than just a stock head. I know WHAT needs to be done, I just don't know WHO I can trust to do it right. That make more sense?

It is absoutely mandatory that the head be sized for the bore!

I keep searching for one for sale, but no luck. Pro-Tec has those cast ones that look pretty cool for $200 though. That is half the billet cost and I'm not going for race gas compression levels.

GroupK says the cylinder head modification is $85. I wonder if Randy at Watcon can do it?

A bit of well-meant advice: Don't rush through this. Is that 760 absolutely needed for you to finish out the season?
I have made the majority of my engine-eating mistakes when I was in a hurry.
Take your time, speak to some builders, and do it right.
You should buy two new sets of pistons, get the cylinder bored to those pistons.
Look for a used 760 head, or even a used aftermarket head with removable domes (you can put 701 or 760 domes in those)

Durrr, yeah Tim, you're right. I was thinking set to include rings, wrist pin, and bearing.

Any engine builder can machine your head. Lehr Performance, Team Scream, Jet Works, Group K.

Gawd. I haven't even started drinking yet. But Phill is supposed to get here shortly, and then we'll be working on skis. :Banane35:

Speaking of being in a hurry, back when I was racing (probably in '95 I think) I put my SXi back together, and started it, WITHOUT wrist pin bearings. Dumbest thing I've ever done, well, after buying a SXi in the first place I guess.

WOW! I bought a Polaris motor off Ebay this summer (for my wife's SL1050) and it turned out to have no wrist pin circlips in it!

Yeah, I'll know better next time.

I was going to get a Pro-Tec head (because I like the way they look over the ADA), but since I am buying a top end kit now and boring I think I'll just get my stock 701 head modded to run ~170psi on the 760. Who can I send it to for that (beside Group K)?

Aaron

TDR is quick, good and reasonable.

like it was said above, that piston is fine, but in order to use that one picton you have to get an oem pistonc (cause it is oem and weights are different between brands) and you need to get new rings for both pistons....once again this cylinder does not need to be bored. those marks are very common on every freestyle engine. if its such a big deal send it back to me and i will refund your money minus shipping. ive never had a problem selling anything.
