Where did this term come from and what exactly is it used to describe?

I was getting curious after seeing it used a few times so I decided to first try searching on here and on google, but I couldn't find any related info and the google search left me a bit worried..

Similar to pole vaulting

I could totally go somewhere else with this.... basically its the act of of something nosing into the water, if you surf at all or ever have when you get to much weight forward on the board and the nose goes under water thats "pearling" You can fix this by adding more "rocker" to keep the nose from going under. same goes for a ski in the surf.

its fun stuff and youll know excatly what it is when it happens to you. i added rocker and tubbies to my sxr to prevent it and surf is so much more fun now

This guys right, "Pearling" is a surfing term, and means to stuff the nose or fall forward when coming off a wave, usually from having your weight to far forward. I'm not sure where the surfing community adopted it from

If that's true...not cool to just throw up a link like that. If I were to click on that here at work....big trouble.

Thanks for the warning.

The link I posted just pulls up google with "pearling" typed into the search box. It doesn't direct you to a certain page or anything. Merely a joke about where the term came from, since it was the first thing that popped up in the search.

edit- alright definitely dont click on any wikipedia links about this
