Anyone that has done this, will you please post the steps to buying a RTR ski through this site including the payment procedure. Example: RTR ski for $20k on the other side of the country then where you live. Very curious how this is done, that's a lot of money....

I have never done it quite like that or for that much money!

But I bought a snowmobile once....went to look at it...walked in to dudes living room...logged in...paid him....left with sled.

I would for sure find another way in your case!

So it comes down to reputation of the seller, personal check with acceptance. Right? Even if you used pay pal and you are willing to pay the PP fees, would you be protected by PP for that kind of cash? What if the seller has good rep but has as many posts as I do? Buddies could be just talking him up a bit. And you can't meet him because he is too far unless you fly...
There is plenty of guys on here that have a nice ski for sale but no rep...what do you do?
If I had a pumped hybrid ski for a great price, I live in Reno and you live in Florida, what are you going to do?

you are right for being cautious....

I recently shipped a 1000cc engine to the UK to someone whom I'd never "met"

but once you hang around on this forum for awhile you learn who you can trust, and which members are just a fart in the wind..

seeing as your are in Reno, maybe you could just pick it up at world finals??

That is a great option .... take your 20k budget to finals you will probably leave with a better ski than you are currently looking at,with the added insurance of being able to look at what your buying first hand and maybe even testing and best of all no shipping .if you have never been to finals ,its defiantly a great place to go to see whats out there and whats state of the art, great deals too

Just to clarify, the $20k ski was just an example. I'm in the market but not that high, that is a lot of coin to drop on one these water scooters...lol. Just want to be ready to act if something does pop up. And the Havasu, that is one of the best options. But this is the second year I could not get the time off work for that week.

what are you looking to purchase and from whom? spill the beans

never know what kind of local opportunities might be availible
Seroiusly no beans to spill. Not dealing with everyone at all. But look at the Matrix that was for sale for $11k RTR about week ego, that was a great deal, and you better be ready to pull the trigger because they are gone fast...right?

Yes, this is very true. I actually bought the Matrix, but luckily I knew Josh was a great guy to deal with so I had nothing to worry about from the seller. I did however wire transfer the funds to him within one hour of hour phone conversation just to seal the deal asap.

I have bought a hull without seeing it and a few other large purchases. I usually talk with seller on phone, it makes me feel better and you can usuallyget a good feel about the person. Most people on the x, selling high end skis are fairly decent people.

Good for you, that is a nice boat. I would love to see some vids of the first rides. I bet the ski cost him at least $15k to build. Vids, vids, vids please.
