How much padding do you guys find to be effective on top of the footholds?

I have no padding... just turf.... kinda a newbie turfing mistake, but my feet have been paying for it....

I have a decent size bump on the top of my feet where my feet constantly hit the holds...I think it might almost be permanent now, but I dont know for sure since I never gave the swelling enough time to go down....

I ride 2-3 days a week for about 3-6 hours of hard riding each day I'm out.... I almost constantly have my feet in the holds... the tops of my feet get sore each time I ride, but I still do it anyways because as long as I can still walk I will still be riding....

I tried folding up pieces of 8mm padding and sticking it in my laces, but it just doesnt seem to work good enough....

I am using wrestling shoes... maybe there is a better shoe?

Only other option I can think of is throwing some dap weldwood on the top of my foothold turf, laying down some 8mm padding up there, and laying another layer of turf on top of that...

Either way I hope I can figure something out before I start getting problems with my feet... thanks for any help...

If you have ever experienced the same thing please make a post...

Get that thing over here. I have a fresh roll of 25mm padding and a bunch of 8mm left over.

You have to body grind the 25mm in to a shape that is right for your foot.

I had a bruise that lasted every bit of Fall and Winter a few years ago. It was a biatch!

My problems were on my lower outer shin if that makes sense. I had to 25mm pad the part of my gunwhale where my ankle/shin hit.

I have a bunch of leftover 8mm padding and maybe enough turf to cover over it... not sure though... I'll have to check tonight... if you have more black diamond turf than I do I might have to come up there...

I will be out of town this Fri, Sat, and Sun and then the Put-In-Bay ride is next weekend, so it would be great to have it fixed by then... if I dont have enough turf I'd have to come up after work sometime next week if you will be free then....

2 tone might look cool... I'll have to see how much turf I have tonight...

I dont know why the pieces of 8mm padding in my shoe laces didnt help more... maybe it got beat-up too much since it was fit under my laces...

I see ringstar makes kickboxing shoes that might help me too.... they arent high-top style shoes though like my wrestling shoes...

Your foot is probably bruised and needs time to heal. Padding on top will keep the hurt away.

What kind of holds water dog? They kill my foot even with padding.

I say we REALLY pad it with some 25mm ground in to a half circle so that the bruised part of your foot hits the 25mm but everywhere else just tapers off.

mine are padded with the same thickness that is in my tray.. my feet never hurt, but I should have sanded it down a tad to get more of my foot into the hold.

I have the same permanant bruises on the tops of my feet. I didn't use enough padding when I installed my holds. I only used 8mm. About 2 weeks ago I started wearing a pair of no show ankle socks under my wrestling shoes. What a difference!! They totally keep the bumps from the laces and tongue from digging into your foot when you yank up on the footholds. Give it a shot when you go out next time. Doesn't require any money or work to your ski. Just a pair of sport socks. You'll be amazed by the difference. IMO.

how bout doing the exact opposite of that so the cut out is where the bruised part of your foot goes. that way the rest of the foot takes the pressure while the bruise gets time to heal.
