orange distress flag

I was browsing the Ohio DNR's website tonight and noticed they say that it is a requirement for a pwc to carry a visual distress item - which unless you carry a flare gun- it means you have to carry an orange flag... any of you carry one, or have been asked to see it by patrol? I have never carried one personally, but now that I saw that- I might next season...

I do not believe its required here but I found out a whistle is required and only started carrying one last year because I found out it was required. Never been bothered my a officer though. But it is always better to be prepared. Always good to show officers that you are knowledgeable on the laws.

I carry one in my couch. Have never carried one on a standup, although I was inspected by a sheriff patrol once who told me to get one. I am in Ohio also.

Actually there is nothing in the Ohio requirements saying you have to have any audible distress call for pwcs on NON-FEDERAL waters... so on lake erie (and I think maybe the ohio river...) you need a whistle...

So I will still carry a whistle... but I guess in all inland lakes- a visual distress flag is required... I wonder if walmart carries these..... otherwise I will order online...
