Old MSD cdi

[Cell Block 726]

Are these worth keeping? They've been in a parts crate for years as I remember them failing years back.. didn't they have a bad run in early 2000's..

Yes, I believe early 2000 there was a bad run of them, buddy had one that lasted about a year. I still have one from 99 that was good when I pulled it out.

I've seen stickers modified to read SMD lol

I sometimes keep them just to test in another ski..but after that I cut the leads off and toss them. Those ends come in handy if you ever work on another yamaha that has a pinched/damaged wire.

My idea also for keeping terminal ends... But then I'm gonna put some 5.56's in them!

I am positive they failed over 10 years ago!!! No run condition... swapped to stock to verify, and skis ran fine...and bought new ones..

Sounds like you're about 10 years late to throwing them out!

Hah! i think i still have one as well. I contacted MSD a couple years back to see if they were repairable , but apparently they are not.
Worst $300 i ever spent on an aftermarket part upgrade. Hopefully the have improved cuz the old ones sucked.
