Ok, Superjet lovers.... Please give me a history report.

I've recently purchased a 1994 Kawasaki 750. Although I really like it so far, after reading more, everyone loves the Superjet, so I've decided to start my Jetski collection, I am going to buy a Superjet also. Plus when I have friends over, we can both go out riding...

Why year should I get? What's the nicest late model Superjet... I've seen early 90's 650's for around $1400.00. Are there certain years that are better than others? Any input would be great.

I will be buying it to do tricks and play around on a lake if that matters.

What do you experts suggest. What years did they make certain hulls? What is the prefered year range hull? I have some money to spend so I could go for a newer design if that's where it's at.

Let me know what you think... Thanks

For freestyle you are going to want the 1996 and newer or round nose. The white hulls seem to be the strongest. They were produced in 1996 and 1997 only. When they changed to the blue in 1998 the paint has trouble staying attached to the hood and is REAL bad about fading throughout the entire boat. I have seen several of the 2007s with low hours have cracks in the hull below the bond line in the area of the battery box and corresponding area opposite side. The powerplant has remained almost unchanged from 1996. Any round nose is a great freestyle boat, but the white are a little stronger IMO.

anything 94 and up stock is a great boat. you don't need a round nose. the older squares are good even with the 650 and those are easy to slap a 701 in.

You definitly dont need a RN but they look much better. You will want the 701 motor because the 650 is very limiting. Try to find one that atleast has a prop which makes a huge difference over stock too. Normally you can find a SN w/ 701 and prop for around 1200 easy.

Stick w/ a 701 and if your going to keep it a while stick w/ a round nose 96' & up. There are alot more & better aftermarket parts avail for a round nose and they have the newer 62T cases which are better as well.
Of course this depends on your budget too, I strongly suggest waiting for a RN since you have one ski to ride now.

other than body parts almost all of the square stuff works on a round.

Exactly:
HOOD & Nose pc.
Pole and brackets

But you forget that the Motor is different too 61X vrs. 62T

Add the costs up when modding one to the other and might as well start with a round nose. Not to mention if you do add mods to a SN you have resale damages to worry about more so than the RN.

I am just saying, that he has a boat to ride, why not wait and get what he will eventually have anyway?

I picked up my 91 superjet for 1200 a week ago. Not sure how long I'll hang onto it. My friends are trying to tell me to stick with the SN, but would rather have the first couple years of the round nose. May hang onto this until next summer and sell it when the market is hot or maybe try and flip it here in the next couple of weeks since I still have the X2 to ride, ugh, we'll see...
