Oem rings on SBT pistons?

They are almost 30 dollars USD for 2, that along with the fact that I would have to pay shipping and a 40+ dollar brokerage charge to get them across the border. Final cost would be over 100 dollars, I dont know if it worth my while for a quick fix.

I'm not even sure if my current rings require a replacement, they seem to look fine... I'm just trying to get some options incase I do have to change. I can get oem rings for 40 dollars Can for a set of 4 locally.

Wow...good deal on the OEM rings, for sure.

BTW, if you are replacing pistons, you really need to replace the rings, as well.

Anyone know if OEM rings can be used on SBT pistons? I found a previous thready but it didnt say whether or not the they were interchangeable.

in my opinion, i would never mix / match rings, and piston brands. you should either ;

get new OE pistons / rings, or pro - x, ect.

-----or ----

go with SBT rings.

i know you are worried about $$$$, but what if the OE rings end up sticking, or catching, and doing more damage. then you could possibly be spending even more money.

also, you really are never "supposed" to reuse, or put used rings back into a bore. ( i know people do all the time though).

just my .02

Sorry to thread jack but on this same note I just had to tear down a 20 hour rebuilt motor cuz the ported cases' epoxy did not hold up.

I am reusing everything (clips, pins, bearings, etc..). Is that OK?

was there lots of loose crap in the cases???

we have never really messed with just changing rings down here, but we'll pull top ends off fairly often and slap them back together...

have had 1 ring snag in teh past 3 years or so....

I would use pistons pins and bearings again if they are within spec - . I would, however, change circlips, those are cheap.

Thanks for the help guys, I think i may just get some new pistons. I' have to have my crank rebuilt anyway... i might as well do it all new.

sigh, I should have bought the sj new :p it would have ended up being cheaper:p
