Octane Octane Crank is it tapered on end

Is the Octane crankshaft tapered on the drive coupler end ?We have built a polaris base snowmobile engine and need to build or find a drive coupling to match a kawasaki x-2 driveshaft. I was wondering if the Octane crank is the same crank used in the liberty 800 motor's and if maybe I can use a set of Octane coulper's ?I will also try and call Randy at Watcon but wondering if one of you guy's might know Thank's.

Just a thought ,may not be a good one but the older 440 KAWI couplers were tapered also,it may or may not match the taper of the Polaris crank though.

Oh Ok good thought I did not know that. I can machine a taper in a 550 coupler but we are concerned the aluminum might not hold up. We are open to Ideas that's for sure Thank's Terry. is the older 440 coupler steel or alum.

You could use a bigger and stronger coupler like the Yam 66e and machine some threaded inserts to fit, just more work though
I have that to fit the Kawi driveshaft in my X-2 with a 66e engine

The Octane PTO end is threaded and isn't tapered like the snowmobile cranks are for the primary clutch. Depending on which Polaris snowmobile engine you are trying to use, you might be able to replace the PTO end with an Octane PTO end and use the Octane coupler.
