Novi carb question

I had my SJ out today. It has a set of 48 Novis on it. I have been fighting these carbs since I bought them. The problem I am having is they won't close all the way unless I blip the throttle a couple of times. Which in turn causes a free rev condition out of the water and a fast idle in the water. I have lubed the shafts and spring but still no luck.

This may seem simple but I overlooked it this year when putting my limited together.
I had the trigger throttle too close to the odi grips causing it keep the throttle plates from closing all the way.

Or try to loosen the carb bolts to the manifold and make sure they are in line with each other. If the carbs are shifted a little they will bind up when they try to close.

Ok took my throttle plates out cause I noticed they were rubbing on the carb bores. Sanded them down a bit and not they open and close perfect. BUT!!!! as soon as I give it any kind of throttle it revs to the moon. Anybody have any ideas? This is getting old.

the reason it is revving to the moon is
you have a air leak
could be crank seals
could be intake gasket
could be wear on throttle butterflies
could be lean jetting
could be anything
a primer shoud kill the revving when it happens or choke it off w/hand if af is off

Ok went back out to the garage. Went from 1 1/2 turns on the low to 2 full turns. Seems to rev up fine and also idles great. Hope this fixed it. I also went from 1 turn on top to 1 1/2.

Fastest and easiest way to kill it is to push & hold the stop button and pull the throttle wide open.
