ok, well im a noob obviously when it comes to electrical i have the box off and split, where is the solenoid? Is it that thing under this rubber gromet type thing with 2 red wires leading out of it?

its in the middle ish. top. not the ignition cables. the only thing in their that has these flemzie removable rubber protector caps. fold them both back so you can cross the 2 post.

:shooter3:dont let the sparks scare you

And use your least favorite screwdriver to cross the posts....

ok well im not getting anything now, sometimes it doesnt even make a noise when i click the start button and when it did i got no spark from my screw driver and the solenoid.
I am really surprised on how new everything looks inside the box though, im not sure how new it is but everything inside looks prestine!

Cs Performance wants $70 for a solenoid?? I can order one online for lie $45:sad6:

we just went through a aftermarket solenoid issue at the waverave. one of the board members '' forgot who '' had an ebox rebuilt buy a '' local specialist'' and it looked brand new inside and out , so he gets to the ride and after 3 minutes riding time realizes the starter is engaged, so he kills it and its still crankin at the launching area , he runs for some tools/ gets back and its still cranking disconnects battery and now loses a day of riding time ... that was the worst part '' lost time '' so I helped him diagnose it in camp and find a bad solenoid ,he then tells me he had an non OEM solenoid installed, cost $35 VS $70 for OEM so he saved some money but it cost him a day of vacation and a ton of agrivation and could of been worse, IE :flywheel ,bendix, starter, ebox, stator assy could of been trashed along with burning the ski down to the waterline are all high possibilities ! anyways we asked around and KINGNOTHING had a spare that we used and he was rippin the next day ''Thanks KING'' . that new junk solenoid would engage approx 30 secconds after tightening the lugs everytime , if you kept the lugs loose it worked fine... ANYWAY.... F%$# aftermarket solenoids they are a waste of money and if you want surf reliability or you ski farther from the dock then you care to swim ,buy an oem yammie solenoid and spare yourself some grief !! it may be just that individual AM solenoid but after seeing that happen I will only buy YAMAHA !!! IMHO

well i dont even know if its the solenoid, i did the screw driver trick and nothing happened at all.

then its not the solenoid !!!! I was just sayin stay away from AM Electrical '' sorry to threadjack '' just tryin to help a little , But , just do what MOTOMAN said, bypass everything and test the starter ! PS : you can use a good car battery for his test too too , its 12-v also !
