Super Jet No Spark - Start/Stop Diagnostics?

We picked up a SN SJ with some nice parts on it. Previous owner test rode, ran fine, started when I got there, ran fine, started it a few times briefly after getting it home.

Went to start it last nite, and it started for about 2 seconds then cut out. The motor cranks but appears to be no spark. ebox was just recently sealed, mounted, and the bolts were turfed over, so I'm trying to see if there are other testing options before ripping the turf off to pull the coil.

touched plugs to head bolts, couldn't see any visual spark while cranking..both wires

put an in line spark tester in while cranking, no light whatsoever on either plug/wire

I also pulled both boots off, clipped the wires fresh and retried. I even tried touching the bare clipped wire to the tip of the plug and couldn't see spark.

I was told it could be the start stop switch. I disconnected the black and white start stop switch connector from the ebox and still had no spark.

Is there any more tests I can do on the start stop switch OR on the plug wires before I rip the turf off?

Check the red wire in the Ebox that has the fuse. Your fuse could be bad. Or the wire could have a short in it. This happened to me once, I put a voltmeter on everything I could think of just to find out that the red wire had been pinched at one point and a short developed. Easy fix if this is the case

I checked the fuse itself and it’s fine. You’re saying your wire was pinched but your fuse was still good?

Ya so just check for continuity on each half of that wire

Also, you should be able to remove your ebox from inside the hull using the two nuts that fasten the ebox to the holders (that bolt in through the dash).

hey @smoofers , yea, one would think so.... that's how I did it on my normal SN. This one, the Previous owner didn't use the normal brackets and bolts, instead, whatever he did, he mounted the ebox through the bulkhead, with the nuts out on the tray side, THEN glued and turfed over it. the turf job is decent, so I was hoping to not have to pull the turf off, but looks like I may have to, or at least cut holes through it to get the nuts off.

I was hoping that someone knew of a way to do some sort of multimeter test on the plug wires while cranking the ski over to confirm if it is the plug wires/coil before I have to start cutting into turf.

Are they oem plug boots? If so check the little coil deal that connects the plug wire core to the spark plug resistor. I had one of those break on me from vibration. They are super flimsy deals. A set of msd plug boots would help your cause for sure, they use a more sturdy stamped metal connector

Yea I’ve actuslly got a complete new ebox and start stop switch on the way from JSS for my Ski (got this one for a friend) Was scheduled to be here today but is now delayed.. I just hate not knowing what’s wrong and don’t want to pull off all that newly glued turf to get to the bolts.
I don’t think they are oem boots Bc they’re black and say ngk and I think stock ones are red. Either way, the inside of the boots aren’t too great, but I also removed the boots and exposed some fresh wire and touched it directly to the plug and there was no spark at all

I disconnected the stop portion of the start stop switch to see if it was a bad switch, but it made no difference.
Still cranks but no spark.
I’ll just have to wait until all my parts get back from JSS.
(Sent spare coils in so he could use the best ones out of all the parts)
