I put my motor together and I cranked her over and she spins but when I check for spark I'm getting nothing. I took the spark plugs out, grounded one plug while in the boot to a non painted head bolt and I got nothing. Did the samething to the other one, same results. What should I start with? 2000 sj. Well I undid the black connection on the s/s switch and she still cranks over but no spark. I opened up my ebox and jumped the red fused wire with the brown wire and the motor spins over, and I get a clicking from the relay and still no spark... What does that mean?

Im having the same problem right now. If you search, there is a ton of info about no spark issues. Also I believe there is something in the tech FAQ.

Try the coil out of that 650 next, it may just be the spark plug boots but swapping the coil could rule out both. you could also try trimming back the plug wires and reattaching the plug ends.

I had the same issue last year and it was my spark plug wires, try cutting them back an inch or so then reconnecting them to the boots. If that dont work, get a multi-meter and test the power bofore and after the coils....keep tracing back furtur to find the root of your problem

Please don't test the power after the coil with a multimeter, even a fluke won't handle more than 1000VDC and your coil puts out more than 20 times that.

A weak or inconsistent spark is often the spark plug wires. A no spark issue is usually either a bad s/s switch, stator, or cdi.
You have eliminated the s/s and the cdi so now you need to check the stator coils. Try checking the resistance to ground on the brown/white and white/red wires after disconnecting from the cdi.

got an update:
it took me awhile but i got a 61x stator off a cl find, and i put the stator on tonight, set the timing and put the flywheel on. I got a nice spark on both sparkplugs. So i poured some premix down the carbs and let her crank for a little bit, and after a few cranks she fired for a sec! so she is ALIVE! i just need to seal everything off, and install the exhaust. thanks for all your help guys!

No you test resistance with the stator disconnected. There is a good post on the x about stator testing here:
