NO or very little foam w/ bilge under tray?

Some info:

SXRs come stock with styrofoam in the nose and in the rear and come with a stock drain plug. You cannot sink an SXR. Mine only got waterlogged because I put crappy foam in with the footholds.

Industrial strength pingpong balls are un-crushable (but expensive). Smurfs ski was probably the most unsinkable ski out there...he had the rear filled with these and then put foam around them along with drain plugs. PERFECT.

NEVER EVER EVER go with no flotation...eventually that bad boy'll go down like a whale turd.

I just finished refoaming my ski with the pink polystyrene a couple weeks ago along with chopping 2" off the rear. Thankfully I installed drain plugs because water is getting in there somehow and I can't figure out how. I'm at a loss right now and almost considering saying F it and installing versa plugs.

x2, i stuff that shait everywhere. I am all for semi foaming with polystyrene and drain plugs/versa plug. i just do not use any pour in 2 part anymore because it waterlogs. I still get water in my rear hull and have it sealed pretty good. as soon as it is not airtight it can let the water in so easy from just riding. the bad part would be like djkorn kinda said that if you loose your hood, or swamp, the rear will start to fill and it will go down. having a cart tank, no nose foam, or handpole foam makes it sink quicker when the engine bay is filled. having a buddy and your tow rope handy is smart riding. my rope is under my nose piece and so far i haven't used it or sank my ski. knock on wood. not sure how much water is needed to displace a skis weight. the lighter the ski the better the chances of keeping it afloat. i swamped my kawi sxi and it had wet foam and it was going down. my buddy was able to stuff his life jacket under the nose and it helped us keep it so we cold get the hood closed and hooked to his ski. i though lake erie was going to get it for sure.

for sure matt, i have my engine bay packed with foam to help fill up the voids. one pool noodle is all i need to stay afloat in our pool, i am 5'10 / 167lbs they work very well. what color you using matt?
