i dont know if other people have been doing this and i dont know why i didnt think of this before but if u prefer to run no lanyard and dont like having a zip tie holding up the little post this might work for you..

if you take apart the start stop switch unscrew the little nut that holds the protective rubber boot that goes over the "button" that sits under the lanyard peg..

underneath is a little white plastic post...when the lanyard is removed it pushes down on the white post and cuts the motor..

just cut that little post off flush with a pair of dikes and put the rubber boot and nut back on...now u dont have to run a zip tie to hold up the lanyard peg anymore..

like i said maybe everyone else has been doing this but generally i see people with a zip tie in place of a lanyard..

i dont like running gloves and i always cut my hand on the start stop even with a grip donut...

so last night i was bored and took an old wetsuit and basically turfed the entire start/stop assembly...its pretty nice and cushy now and i dont have to worry about it cutting my hand anymore..it didnt come out super clean but with a little more time anda heatgun you could probably do it with minimal seams...the razor i had was kinda dull so it looks like a rat gnawed out the holes for the red and green button or else i would have taken a picture of it...if u dont like wearing gloves and you are sick of having a hole in the base of your thumb all the time it might be worth doing..

some places require you to have a working lanyard. I use to do the zip tie, never once cut my self. Had an old lanyeard, just plugged it in, cut the cord to a few inches, and zip tied it to the bars. If I need to run with a lanyard, just un plug and plug in regular lanyard.

I just did what Eddie does. Took the key of the lanyard that plugs into the ss switch, plugged it in, cut off the lanyard rope put a zip tie loop where the lanyard rope held the key and then ran a ziptie to my bar. But I wear gloves.... The reason Eddie does that is because he runs a lanyard but has the extra key ziptied to the bar so if your in a critical zone and cant find the long lanyard in time, there's a key right there so you can start up in time...... But I just leave the ziptie key in and said to hell with the lanyard.

I guess there's different ways of doing it. Pretty slick Andrew. Im just gonna leave mine incase of a lanyard wanted competition.

Did ya know JSS makes a ss switch also that is a lot smaller also without a lanyard. Pretty sweet just not sure how they hold up.

i like the big start stop cause i use it for leverage, I turn it up so the red button is on top and the green on the front so there is more area to push your hand off of ....and i wouldn't run a lanyard clip either just for the fact that the 2-3sec it takes to plug it in can be the difference between getting smashed or not...not saying u sholdnt, i just dont want to take the risk...

yea we dont have to worry about people telling us to use lanyards..if anyone is going to be getting us in trouble there are probably more important things to worry about :439: :shhh:

I was considering an emergency switch or button that derails the stop circut/lanyard for my x2 so you could get moving again quickly, but alas nobody is going to compete on it so mute point...lol.

Just the key is in. I don't run the lanyard. Learned that lesson in the early days... Even after you warned me... Then I almost drowned cuz of the lanyard.... So ya I got you home slice.
