Who says the Atlantic doesn't have big powerful surf?

people don't realize it, but France and Portugal have some of the best surf on the planet... The N. Atlantic average waves size is like 20-30ft... it's very rough. I went up there a few times when I was in the Navy... Waves were splashing up and hitting the hanger bay at over 60ft...

we ave had some great surf this yr. just have not been able to ditch the kids to ride it.

now in reality our best clean surf is like double over head at best but just head + , just on average.

Texas is an east / south coast. we benefit from the south swells here as well. the trench is what makes us different from the rest of floridas west coast.

4' swell has A 6' face so it is head high. are we talking face height or swell? no one seems to get that straight when comparing waves.

not to mention it has to do with the transition of the bottom as to how fast the waves pitch to their peak.
