Surfriding Niagra River assault 2010

Our latest assault on the Great Niagra River Gorge yesterday : Mat'' Madmat'', Frank '' blaster800'' Justin ''1hydroman'', Andy ''Xeon'', and the newboy Pat '''imhungry114'' filming , thanks Newboy we'll ride again ! Made a trip up the river to Devils Hole . Water speed is unfriggan believeable , about 30-40 mph in my estimate at the swiftest point however the facts are online: '''''Devil’s Hole Rapids 36km/hr=22mph'''. Numbers dont tell the real story .. its just fast ! That's about a mile trip up river from the boat launch past the power plants '' below the whirlpool'''. what is amazing is the currents are so swift and multidirectional that your ski slips from underneath you like when your driving on Ice '' crazy '' anyways, as I seen it ! we will return ! 8 megapixel hd vid to follow in a while don't ask but its absolutely beautiful ! BTW very few ride the hole this far up. A big thanks to Paul Lehr for paving the way a couple years ago by draging the cleveland crew up there . !! The 4th pic is Justin ''shooting the hole '' at that point full throttle nets you 0-3 mph gps !!!

I have a ton of full 1080p HD footage (thanks for running my camera new kid!). Xeon's first rip ip....Justin charging up the US (HAIRY!!!) side....good footage. I need to get it all to Korn for editing.

I wish you could have went Paul. I was having a hard time remembering where to launch for the big air but I know now.

That place will NEVER get old!

I eye that ramp up every time I go but my intake grate is very aggressive...

that ramp is tiny anyways.....plus all you can think about is the hole when you ride the river...

Yea I am glad everything went well too.....everyone had good reliable set ups and everyone completely paid attention and my dumb azz never bailed.

hey, I was wondering, what there is after those rapid? is there any hole or big danger? It looks really close to what I ride in montreal.

Nice pics... It was intense how much water was flowing on Saturday compared to 2 sundays ago. Shooting the hole is the biggest adrenilin rush ever. Gives you that fix we all desire.

The pics do NOT do the waters fury justice. People dont understand how intense these waters are until you see them in person. Class 5 rapid right at the hole. :skull2:

6 would be better so there is even numbers though. Im glad everyone had no hiccups or anything when we ventured up.

Yeah, I can imagine that it is INSANE. If you looked at the pics just imagine losing your ski and it hanging at 3/4 throtle. Thats how fast it will go down river when you let go. Look at the terranane around the banks too. I gotta believe that 90% of the places your ski will end up will inflict pain and damage of some sort. There is no relaxing in that type water.

If you do lose the ski, you'll be going just as fast as the ski, though. Unless you get caught on a whirlpool, of course. Happened to me once

Nice...you guys were coming down pretty close to each other! I don't think that river should be hit 3x in one year...we may anger the niagara goddess and she may eat your ski.
