one more... why do little furry creatures like cavy's smell so good??? They even smell cute...
I think it's the hay and something mixed

the beagle's paws smell like corn chips after they have been sleeping or something....don't know why.....but I think it's cute

I think a lot of dogs have that issue - when I was on a weimaraner list, the discussion of foot odor came up frequently. Most would say there dogs feet either smelled like Fritos or popcorn.

i have never noticed this, and why are all of you smelling your dogs feet?

The hay is part of it, but some animals just smell good. Vegetarian species are often likely to smell good. Lots of parrots smell really good, especially c*ckatoos and amazons. Most co ckatos have a somewhat sweet smell, but Moluccan's are my favorite. They smell like maple syrup. Most Amazons have a somewhat spicy sweet smell.

Parrots so consistently smell good that if they smell wrong, I look for problems, usually with the GI tract, but sometimes it's a metabolic problem. If they keep smelling "off" even when blood work and stool checks are normal, I keep looking until I find out what's wrong, cuz they don't stink for no reason.

There is a group of birds called Pionus parrots (related to Amazons) that are reported to smell either very nice or like dirty sweat socks. In my experience, the "sweat socks" birds have something going on, because often after resolving health problems they smell good. I've had owners tell me their bird never smelled good, always like socks. Then we treated and the bird smelled nice for the first time in it's life.

If you know anybody with a Pionus that smells like socks, tell them this and make them take their bird to a GOOD bird vet - not someone that sees only 1-2 birds a month, somebody that sees a LOT of birds.

How did I get started on a lecture about bird health, anyway?

My ex had birds and they did smell good... I never occurred to me it was from their veggie diet... Birds and Cavy's do eat similar things...

Sometimes during a snuggle, the feet are near the face. Just the way dogs lay.

since you are here answering questions... What is up w/ the hair getting into scooters penis. I don't know if I'm saying that right... When you pick him up he always has a few strands of hair from his belly area that get stuck to his wiener... You ever see that on the long haired cavy's? The wife just pulls it out of there.... No risk of infections???

We have been starting to trim the butt area to prevent "pee legs"... I guess they need more timming...

Common problem with the long haired boys. Keep watch on the area and clean all the hair out frequently. I do recommend keeping the hair around that area trimmed fairly short (not so short that it pokes into the other side of the skin folds).

If the hair stays in there, it can get infected. You will see whitish, greasy discharge building up around his pen!s. Just watch it close, remove any hair that gets stuck, and he should be fine.
