I want to get into jet skiing, but hav no clue where to begin....

I have a sit down but that stuff is getting boring. I ride motocross so i think i'll be able to handle a stand up.

Where should i begin?

Thanks

Many will say 'get a superjet'.

IMO, that's too much ski for a beginner. Wayne's and Swooperjet's about threw me off every time I touched the throttle. Never went past 1/4 throttle on them, except by accident.

My suggestion is to look for a cheap 550 and start on that. That way you can see if you like standups without investing a bunch of money in 1.

I still love my couch.

I used to have a Seadoo XP for 4 years before i switched over, and have NEVER looked back...well maybe sometimes, when she drove away from me and times that i get lower back pain....BUT over all best idea...

Okay... so this is how i did it...my brother in-law had one so i tried his, he has a Super Jet..i noticed that it's challenging and more tricks can be done, i realized that i couldn't stand to well on a Super Jet, not sure why ( mabe weight, hight, balance....No idea ) i watched bunch of Vid's on guys doing crazy stuff, and then said F!@#ed ....i WANT IT

so i bought a SXR 800

Just try someone's Jetski for a ride, go home and try to sleep, if you keep thinking about your ride then BUY ONE

701 Super Jet, from '94 to current, you'll do just fine. Maybe hook up with someone on here that's fairly close to go ride one.

I had the same problem on Wayne's and Swooperjet's skis. I almost never had a problem on my 550. They're ski felt too tippy. It felt even more like I was riding an inflatable banana.

I bet it's a balance thing. I bet it'd just take more practice riding.:mischievous:

Do u think a 550 will be enough for me? Im 6 ft. 180lbs. I want something thats light, but also has power.
I agree with mark.

The advantage of the 550 is they're cheap. You will find it leaves you wanting more.

Anyone seen a Superjet for < $1000? I'm interested in 1 for that cheap myself.

I started with my Pro 785 and started to get a little bored. A friend of a friend had a octane on the lake with us and I gave that a spin.....SWEET!! I the went out and bought a SXR and the Pro is now for the girlfriend. I never looked back.

Get a 701 Superjet (hopefully with a B-pipe and Footholds in it) used.
If your gonna do freestyle or surf

Get an Kawi SXR 800 if your gonna ride surf or race.

:usa2:

Don't screw around with a 550...you'll just wrench on it and get pissed...

I agree find someone to ride with 1st.

Make sure she starts right before putting her in the water.

Literally, stay away from the busy channel... if you fall (and you will) standups are harder to see. Try to always HANG ON!

After riding, when skis are on trailor, turn ski on and rev it a few times to get water out. When you get home, take off the hood so as to prevent condensation in engine compartment.

Remember HAVE FUN!

You will learn as you go....

Get a used Super Jet. Stock or slightly modded. I wish I had listened to everyone and gotten a used machine that was already modded. I'm wanting more out of my machine now and I have to spend a lot of money and time. I could have gotten a tricked out used ski for what I paid for mine new.

That's OK Scott...You didn't get somebody else's overported junk...Now YOU can control the BUILD for what power YOU want!
