Ok, to start things off a couple of days ago me and my buddy acquired a free early 90's 750sx. The thing is in pretty ruff shape. ( river growth all around the hall, and water all in the engine bay.....most likely had been partially sunk ) We yanked the motor and all other parts to give it a good thorough clean up. From the looks of it, our motor is toast. There's growth build up in both the intake and exhaust manifolds, so I pulled the head and the cylinder sleeves are covered in rust. The engine is filled with corrosion. about the only part of the engine that I pulled that is still good, is the starter portion.

What would you guys do? Should I just look for another engine? How much should I be expecting to pay for a rebuild?

If anyone has a bolt in 750 engine, shoot me a price. I really want to get this thing kicking before I leave for school.

That stuff is expensive for a kid in college. If anything I was looking to spend around 300$ for a used motor.

Any other ideas, or anyone with a motor?

since it was free you can send the hull to me i ll make good use of it, lol. i would say probably closer to $500 for a engine. You might want to pul the ebox apart and pull the stator cover off to see how those look. Electronics for the 750 are not the cheapest.

youre going to have a hard time finding a good used 750 engine for $300 shipped. it costs $50 - $75 to send an engine. this time of year is not the time to look for bargains, unfortunately.

ill sell you my 650 shortblock, with a 650 manifold and reeds, for $300 shipped.

its been a very reliable engine and the crank still looks like brand new.

I've already stripped down the engine, including the electronics. They look fine, doesn't look like water got in there at all. Basically everything on this thing just needs a thorough cleaning except for the engine which appears to be toast.

would a 650 bolt in?

I've had my fare share of dealing with motors and what not, just nothing with ski's so excuse me if I look like an idiot. I'm trying to learn fast. I've never rebuilt an engine either, I'm wondering if that is something I could tackle myself.
