What a score! I'd love to grab a 440 or 550 for my daughter, especially for that price. How'd ya find it?

drivin' by this dudes house, saw it sittin' out front, went up and left a note on the door saying I fix skis and cycles. the dude calls me back and tells me to bring him 100.00 and drag it off. he said it had some problems, I have yet to find any.

How the hell you know how it's running without battery and exhaust hose ?

brought it home, hook the cables to it, and it popped right off, ran a little crappy so I adjusted the carb and it started singin' clean. and yeah, loud without an exhaust hose. I didn't care if it ran or not, hell, the trailer is worth what I paid for the whole rig. not to mention all the parts sittin' on it.

this is nothing, I paid $250.00 for my '93 sqarenose. it has a full coffman setup, taperbored 'single 46 mikuni, and skat stainless prop.

now make it run better and get rid of that pos short pipe and put a long one on.
440/550 always sound great out of water then the pump loads up and boat runs like crapolla.
still a nice buy.
congrats.

thats only if you're trying to get a lot of speed out of it, and over prop it. I usually run straight skat 13s in 440's and 550's alike. I always get better response from shortys on small bore engines like this. the 13 pitch lets the motor spool way up before it grabs, and they'll try and rip your arms off. the only 440/550 engines I've ever had good performance with long chambers are 550 based-600 bigbore, and they'll easily jump out of the water from a dead stop spinning a 15.5. don't care much for speed.
