Super Jet new to jetskis

Next summer i want to get into doing some surf riding. Ive been reading the forum for a while now and im keeping my eyes open for a RN superjet. I was wondering what they chances are ill find one for ~2500. Ideally i would buy one mostly stock, that way i can do the necessary upgrades myself and get to know it.

Unless you're really hung up on getting a RN, dont forget about the SNs. They are considerably cheaper and pretty much handle the same. You can get a nicely modded one for around 2, maybe even less.

Try to find one with a Bpipe even if it's an extra 4 or 5 hundred. You'll save yourself that same amount later. RN are dogs without a pipe.

I would actually save up 3500 or 4000 and buy one with a Bpipe, footholds, handlepole, steering system, hood and impeller. You could ride it for years and only do maintenance.

I tried RN once and the feel was different than my 2010 SN... may be I was biased :)..

Superjet = Big money pit...but it's worth it :)

X2, I know you said you wanted to mod it yourself. But you can rarely build these things for the same cost of buying one already built. The seller usually loses several thousand on a build. I'll have about 6K cash in my fx-1 when its all said and done, nevermind my time, ive seen several over the years with the same mods selling for 4k or so, and they usually dont end up selling. Its just something to think about. Wouldnt you rather be riding than wrenching? I know I would. You will have plenty of time to learn about it, trust me, it will eventually break. lol.

It took me a day to go to the dealer and buy 2010 close to $8000 and then I spent a bunch on bpipe, ada, hooker bla bla.. LOL :)))
If I knew anything about standups when I bought mine I would have definitely chose your way :)

Very hard to find a rn in my area for a decent price. example: $3500 for a stock 96 sj about 3 miles from my house. (crazy talk)
plenty of SN tho, i believe the bottom deck is the same from 90-07.
Last season i found a very low hours stock 00 for $1750 but i had to drive 7 hrs to get it.. then i spent about 3k on mods, and counting!!! most were used, bought from this forum.

I would agree with DjKorn and GTI, buy one with some mods. youll be glad you did... nows the time to buy, prices will go up in spring.
