Are skis allowed to ride at New Smyrna beach? Is it a decent ride spot?

you can ride there on weekends and holidays only unless you can convince the lifeguard otherwise, which could happen. There is a dedicated zone that moves monthly in cold months or 2x a month in summer. Same deal as daytona with $25/ month pass and all the safety stuff. It's a nice beach. Good scenery most of the time.

New Smyrna is better

New Smyrna is much better. You should really try it first. Probably closer to where you are coming from also.
