My Skat-Trak 12/17 Swirl will be here soon and I'm wondering if I should install a pump cone when I put the new impeller in?

Also, do I need to make any changes to the engine when I install the new impeller? (carb adjustments, etC??)

Thanks

make motor mods FIRST! then pitch the prop accordingly! and yes then tune carbs

depends on what size the pump cone is... smaller the cone the better the holeshot

the 12/17 will RIP with anything from a stock--freestyle ported motor...

no carb adjustments necessary

pump cone is good for low end...and can work even better in conjunction with a bored exit nozzle (NOT the turning nozzel)...However, some people have cavitation issues with a cone/nozzel combo...

in the past I have typically run the cone only and noticed a GREAT deal of low end grunt in both stock and mag pump applications

Sorry, Dont listen to that.... every setup is different.... but that prop will work great for anything from stock to Mod.

I am running a Big Hub c-75 12/17 scat with a TBM pump cone..... It hooks up unbelievable with a 780cc flattop motor.

If you got the regular 12/17 then I would try boring your nozzle to 85mm and running the stock cone...

With the big hub prop and TBM pump cone.... the pump closely mimics a 144 Mag..... Im running the stubby cone.

The exact impeller I'm getting is an:

12/17 Skat-trak swirl race finished and balanced cutback 3mm

It sounds like a cone will be a good addition at the same time, sweet... now which to go with???? Blowsion?

You will lose a little top speed with the shorter tail cone and it's always something that you can bolt on later.

I would bore the reduction nozzle while the pump is out, if you're looking for more bottom end.

For your prop setup Most people have good luck with boring the Nozel out to 85mm and using the stock cone.

In my case I run the TBM pump cone wich makes the stock hub larger like a Mag pump.... Then with the C-75 big hub Mag prop, its almost as good as a mag pump without the added weight.
