how bad is trhe stator by visual ?

It's not the pristine piece you installed, anymore - LOL!

The fins for the pulser coil are full of metal now, but I've not tested the leads. Everything else looks ok. I have a stock flywheel here - what do you think, throw it on and try it?

I know where you can get a good 1st generation TBM for $400 if you can't get warranty on that one. It won't run with an EPIC or Advent but it will work with an Enhancer perfectly.

Just bolted a stock flywheel and woodruff key on. Flywheel slipped right on, compared to the TBM one that required torque to get it seated. Engine turns over effortlessly by hand - leads me to believe the flywheel was messed up from the start. The original key is wedged in the groove of the TBM...

61x stator!

what is the tbm flywheel? guess it´s 62t. the 61x stator is smaller. guess this answers my question on why it would rubb the pickup coil base.

do you have a 62t or 61x stock flywheel on it now. if you have a 62t flywheel and 61x stator the ski wouldnt start.

Dug this up to help shed some light on this...

A picture always helps.

The 61X is on the left and the 62T is on the right.

Notice how close the pulser coil is to the crank snount hole on the 61X and on the 62T it's mounted further away.

Also notice the six round casting marks around the outside of the aluminum mounting plate. The 61X has only round circles while the 62T has half moon shaped marks with the raised circles.

Yeah, it is a 61X stator - I determined that when I sent it off to get rebuilt before doing long before the new engine. I'll check with Brian - it's possible he grabbed the wrong flywheel; he was the one who installed the stator, so if this is the case, I'm guessing it was a mistake.

i thought you said this off a 97 sj which would be a 62t correct anything from 96 up would be 62t unless it was changed out by someone previously . i still think you have just a bad flywheel and perhaps a bad stator as well at this point

If he took that stator out of my old 97 SJ (Blk/White SJ) it had a 61X stator/FW when I sold it.
