I'm wondering, who is making these 90MM pistons?

Dasa are making them for their cylinders. Currently, you can get a billet 10mm pv cylinder+2x 90mm custom pistons and a custom Dasa billet head and domes for $2800!!:thewave:

that actually does not sound like to bad of a deal!

how much are 10mm stroker cranks costing these days?

Spoke with a top builder last night, and they were saying the new DASA cylinder needs quite a bit of work to make it 'freestyle ready'...

Any input on this?

Perhaps your "top builder" would rather elighten the group with some substance.

Is that top builder making his own new Billet cylinder?

That price sounds reasonable, if the porting is good, or very close for freestyle setups.

I believe that these cylinders were designed for freestyle applications and from past experience, there are no substitute. I know that Lenzi tested these cylinders at Havasu and from the look of how is boat ran, nothing came close except maybe the Japs with thier bun billet cylinders.

I can assure you, the DASA billet cylinder was made relative to the cast DASA cylinder because Dan and I did it.

If anything the finish in the transfers is superior to a cast surface.

The port heights are dead nuts, everytime. No more casting variances.

The cylinder weight is slightly less than 2 LBS heavier than the cast cylinder.

Hearing that motor fire up for the first time was an experience.

We worked night and day for two weeks to get that cylinder ready for the World Finals.

U guys have finally sparked my interest here. I currently run a cast Lamey +5mm cylinder, if I were to order a billet +5 cylinder at 85mm for the flat tops I am currently running, would I be able to bolt the new billet version up and go? Would the work already done on my cases work w/the new billet cylinder? Is it worth while to sell my cast Lamey and buy a billet Lamey?

The port configuration at the base of the cylinder has been updated slightly, without seeing your cases, I am guessing they would be close, but probably will need a little bit of work to match the billet cylinder perfectly.

At the smaller bore sizes, ie.. not the big bore cylinder, the power gains over a cast Lamey will be minimal, it is a replacement to the cast Lamey made out of a much better material. It is a much better part all around, right out of the box.

Is it worth it to switch from a cast Lamey to a billet Lamey? Depends on why you are asking I guess. I can address your specific concerns if you do want to do the switch. But I think the short answer is no, the cylinder you have will serve you just fine until you are ready for a big bore cylinder.

ADA uses SeaDoo 951 pistons. I have heard from a "top builder" that their cylinders do requires tons of work to make them freestyle ready. Plus they are shipped disassembled with no sleeves installed and they have no power valve option. When you compare the price to the Lamey big bore and consider what else the Lamey offers (assembled, freestyle ready, PVs and hardware, head, etc and reputation) the Lamey is a smoking deal.
