Super Jet Need some advice on some cracks and reinforcing

I marked this cracks in the pic with a marker to show what is going on there. Im not sure what to do. Im going to reinforce the hull, but should I do something with these cracks first? One of the cracked marked 'major' is actually completely through the hull. I was thinking of drilling holes in the end of the cracks to stop them, and opening the crack up a little so the resin can get into the crack better. any better ways of doing this before I reinforce would be great. I will be filling the bond line and reinforcing with fiberglass. How many layers and what weight glass Im not sure yet. Advice is appreciated.

Are those actually huge cracks or just hairline?

I would just grind it really good, sand it with 36 grit after that and then lay one layer of 17oz biax over all that.

One layer of 17oz has been plenty for me for side reinforcement and I have pancaked rolls from wayyyy up in the surf. Some people over reinforce and then don't even ride hard enough to get to that level of reinforcement anyhow.(not saying thats you)

I've found that the 12oz stuff kinda sucks and is hard to get it to lay nicely in a big run like the whole side of a boat.

Mostly hair line cracks. But one is thru the hull, they all kinda stem from the big crack. Im not rolling or anything yet, but I hope to be soon, thats what Im building it for.

On the other side of the hull(bottom deck) there is actually a hole about the size of a quarter(not circular but about that size) has been repaired. Looks like a solid repair though.

Im planning on reinforcing the whole ski, I have the tray open right now too. Do people usually reinforce all the way up the side to the nose? My bond line in the front is pulling apart a little, but only on the very bottom which I plan on cutting a little anyways. There is some pretty thick ribs up there that I didnt want to grind out if its not neccesary.

On a square I would go all the way up to the nose. The top deck is especially weak.

Also, make sure you reinforce under the pole bracket area. That is the weakest point in a square.

We do 2 layers on top, and bottom of the pole bracket. It gets really thick at the front of the ski, at least a half inch of material on the sides. I dont see a reason to reinforce all the way to the nose, but my buddy did it. He even foamed in the nose and glassed over that. We built our skis for surf though.

Your cracks, id just do a small patch on the inside over them before you lay the whole side piece. Then 1 piece on the outside, and call it good. 17 ox biax

A good enough hit is gonna smash the nose regardless IMO, and id rather it gave just a lil instead of it all going into my hands and shoulders.
