Yes Sata is awesome, I gloat at them every week at my PPG dealer, but not really needed for the average Joe and still be plenty good enough to do commercial work too and not be a $50 Walmart POS. Sharpe is also awesome too.
I have a Iwata air brush that costs twice as any single of my HVLP guns(regular or touch-up style guns).

You think I should buy a sharpe finex kit it comes with two tips of choice (1.4-1.8 my picks) for $105 Instead of buying Develbiss FinshlineIII with (1.3-1.5-1.8-2.2 tips) for $185.

80 dollar differnece for two more tips and a diffrent brand???

Thanks-NICK

What about this kit....looks like it has everything. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DeVI...ewItemQQcategoryZ43987QQitemZ4615161157QQrdZ1

I'm in the same boat your in....I have no clue about this stuff and it is frustrating. With this gun all you need is a compressor right? Can we get a comprehensive list going or something :)

Thats exactly what I was going to buy....

But iM rethiniking it now.

Dont buy from them on ebay. Its more exspensive. Go directly to there site you can see more and actually these guys http://www.spraygunworld.com/products/DeVilbiss/index.htm have the same stuff and are even cheaper yet!!!

thanks-NICK

WOW! That exact kit is over $60 cheaper on their site. Good deal :) The ebay kit comes with the reg/filter as well. Tough call. Thanks

I think you guys are making this too complicated. I have been following this thread and I see you guys running back and forth. Yes, there are lots of choices. That is for just about everything that does not require a doctor/surgery (then you have a limited choice).

1) Frequency:
Will you be painting every day for a month? More than 10 times per year?
If so, buy a better gun. So, Husky/CH -> Harbor Freight

2) Volume:
How much will you be painting? A PWC, 2 PWCs, a helmet, 4 cars and an RV?
If 4 cars and an RV, buy an even better gun. Upgrade that HarborFreight -> Sharpie or Devilbliss maybe SATA if 4+ cars or boats or RV or ...

3) Budget!!!
Set how much you want to spend. Then make a decision based on what is in your price range. You are going to need an inline filter and 2 tips (1.5 & 1.8) any way. That is decided. Case is nice, but so is a $4 Rubbermaid container @ Wal-Mart.

I have not ever painted anything but all the gun recommendations seem like a good SAFE choice. So unless you are Daylite67 (see his userpage) or have an unlimited budget, get the Finish line 3 or Sharpie Finex. Choose the combo at the lowest price that will best suit your needs.

Also, remember that you will not be painting in a paint booth where outside air is filtered into the room and sucked out at floor.

Hey thanks michael950,

I know Im preaty set now I just ned to decided between the devilbiss or sharpe.

About the paint booth...

I have a room that Im going to clean out and paint in beacuse its like 20 degrees here!! I cant put an exhaust fan in beacuse i have to keep it containde in the room. Do you think this will be ok. Or do I have to keep an air flow.

Thanks-NICK

Some of the chemicals are very very bad... especially in the hardener I believe.

Not sure if the lack of proper ventilation will have an effect on your paint job itself, it's more of a health and safety thing.

You need ventalation
#1 You will not be able to see what you are spraying there will be so much paint in the air
#2 paint in the air it will eventually settle...onto your new finish..making it look like ass
#3 You might get (even more) brain damage from breathing those fumes.

I think I am going to get a descent air compressor for my garage......and Sears is doing a sale where if you buy a compressor you get 10 air pc air tool kit that includes a gravity fed gun. I might go that route and spend a little more on the compressor since that is what I will use to run grinders and such.
