My winter 09/10 build-need opinions

I've been trying to think of everything I want to do to my ski this winter.

Here is my goal: A reliable, versitile, reinforced freeride/rec boat with great low end power that can take a beating.

Motor Now: Stock 62t w/ limited B pipe

Motor Ideas: Ada girdled head, lightened stock flywheel or lightweight charging flywheel (like a tbm), msd enhancer

Hull now: Stock, not reinforced, has footholds, riva groovy ride plate, riva intake grate

Hull ideas: #.0 Tubbies, fully reinforced tray, hull and pole bracket area. I would really like a lowered hood and nose piece, but that might be way too expensive. I would possibly chop up my hood with the help of a buddy to lower it.

For steering, I have a shortened, carbon wrapped -4 stock rn pole with 0 degree umi bars. I intend to keep it that way...

Now I would like your criticisms, opinoins, etc. on my ideas. Am I missing anything? Are there certain things that should take precendent over others? Should I forget all of it and buy an fx-1? Let me know what you think.

Keep in mind I'm a recent college grad in the middle of a recession. This won't be a budget build, but it won't be a limitless one either.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Thats easy to do for sure!

35cc domes, stick with lightening the stock one, porting will make a huge difference if you got the Cash.

Hull now: Stock, not reinforced, has footholds, riva groovy ride plate, riva intake grate

Stick with the stock hood til it breaks and in the meantime save the cash and wait til it does. Maybe look into a aftermarket bracket that wont break as easy. Oh get a stock ride plate and D cut it!

For steering, I have a shortened, carbon wrapped -4 stock rn pole with 0 degree umi bars. I intend to keep it that way...

Perfect!

i guess i did miss a few things...

I have 2 bilges, i have a pole limiting rope, and I have a prop. My stock nose piece is cracked, and so is my stock handlepole bracket. This is why I felt like I might as well start to look for at least a used lowered pole/hood/nosepiece kit or try to lower my hood on my own.

I do have porting questions. Does it affect reliability at all? I really haven't looked that far into it because the price has kinda scared me away. Is there a recommended place that does it for a decent price?

Oh, and the #.0 tubbies will be put on saturday once my 3:1 epoxy and cabosil arrive at my door.

Oh and I'm on the fence about the d-cut. I do enjoy carving around on calm days...i'm not sure how much a d-cut would interfere with this.

Thanks

Would a new carb setup be as noticable as porting? It also sounds like porting would/could possibly affect relaibility...is this right? What carbs would you recommend with this setup?

Also, what is a preffered place for porting if I decide to go that way?

IMO TBM alum. charging flywheel and a prop. Huge huge gains. I have never heard of just changing carbs on that set up. Sounds weird to me but Chuck knows his chit I imagine.

hey lucas, yes the tubbies are on and they are awesome. I'd hate to ride a ski without them. Your paint is holding up fine, but I do plan on changing it up a bit. More color.
