my sxr

So this is my sxr. I want to build a freestyle boat out of it ( don't tell me to get a sj it wont happen) anyway this will be the first ski I build so I am open to suggestions.

Plans so far

holds (undecided on type)
pole (X-metal or RRP)
new hood of lighten stocker
re-pitch stock prop

I need some suggestions on wallet friendly motor mods, as of now its all stock except for the pipe.

mill your stock head and get the flywheel lightened

or instead of buying an aftermarket hood lighten your stocker and buy an aluminum flywheel. put a set of flame arrestors on there too...i didnt think they did anything till i put them on and they made my boat crisper everywhere. if you have a head, prop, and flywheel as long as your tuned good that ski should rip.....

the RRP pole is friggin sweet, but its pricey and kinda heavy.....but it is adjustable. there is so much you can do, it just comes down to how much money and time you want to put into it.

I went down to group K today I'm going to have them mill my head. They also said something about boring out the pump and setting back my stock impeller for $90, sound like a good plan? I also ordered some flame arrestors today.

Took it for the first ride with the pipe yesterday, big difference! Whats the best setting on that thing to get more bottom end out of it though? It felt like it had allot more top and thats not what I want.

The 13/22 prop wants to be on the top end, remember, the SX-R is a race ski.

Send the prop to Impros.com and they can cut it back 5mm (remove 5mm of steel from bottom of the prop putting it closer to the vanes) and repitch it. The stockers really only like to be brought back to a 13/21 or so but it will be better.

A TBM pump cone will help with your bottom end and getting that flywheel lighter will greatly increase your grunt. (Either Group K for $100 or TBM for $600)

Once you have the pipe so that it doesn't bog, start turning "in" The top screw on the pipe... keep doing it until the low end is how you like it. Make sure the pipe doesn't get too hot though...(only a little sizzling when you throw water on it).

changed my mind on the pole found a -2 U.M.I. dirt cheap, has 2 rides on it for $250 and it comes with everything to mount it! I just have to figure out why the damn thing wont start now:dunno:. When I hit the start button I get a few clicks if I'm lucky then nothing:banghead:. I think that it is the starter switch or solenoid, whatever you want to call it.

check your ground wire at starter and batt.. 9 times outa ten that seams to be it.
250 bucks!?! great deal.

problem solved! Carbs are better to now and the thing rips compared to stock! Cant wait to do more to it but I don't want the down time, considering its almost 90 degrees every day now.
