My First Ski + First Build (93 SN)

Hey guys, so i am new to the whole jet-skiing thing. but have always had a great fascination for them. My neighbor up the street sold me his 93 SJ, that only had about 3 hours on it for $400. It had been sitting in his garage for about 13 years.

I threw some fresh gas in it and got a good day of riding out of it. Then my CDI unit cut out and i had to replace my reed valve.

Only big problem about this ski, is the engine is a 650 and i cant find a pipe for the 650. I am looking to paint the ski fresh white and get everything ready for my trip down to florida.

what i've bought:
- Rule 500 Bilge
- Worx Intake Grate
- Blowsion Dawsion Digger Footholds
- Hydro Turf, for rails and tray
- Green Hoses
- Flush Kit
- Handle Bar
- ODI Extreme Grips

What i need:
- Factory Pipe
- New Cylinder Head
- Porting (but i have no idea how to)
- Sponsons
- MSD Enhancer

i have looked all over for a pisser on this thing and have came to the conclusion that it doesent have one. does anyone know where it spits out the water?
 
Is that not it coming out of the left side of your ski in the picture? Follow your cooling lines. Should come from either the head or off the pipe to exit out of the ski.

As far as a pipe goes, look for an old ProTec pipe. They work well on the 650s. Also, if you are building on a budget, you can have your 650 cases bored to accept the 701 cylinder. Or... find a set of 61X cases and a cylinder for cheap and swap everything into it.

Where did the water exit? I don't think I've ever seen a ski without one. Thats crazy!

All water exits through the exhaust system.

The 93 650 SJ I purchased did not have a bypass fitting.

From what I know bypass fitting is used to either control cooling or to monitor that the engine is actually receiving water from the pump.

Where would i add one? off the manifold or the head?

You put a 't' in the line going into the end of the pipe with the top of the t (the strait through part) going where the cut is made in the line and d the part to the side (the botom) of the t going overboard.
I have a enhanser (it replaces your cdi completely) that is half a season old for sale. I have it on a 62t 701 (round nose) for sale so ull have to see if it fits yours if you are interested.

And like said before, your electronics will work on a 701/760 as well as your crank shaft. and your cases can even be modified to accept a 701 cyl. huge difference between the 701 and 650

And off that T, is that were the pisser comes off of? will that effect the flow of water to my motor?

yes where i said overboard i ment pisser. That is the water output line from the motor. after it runs trough your motor it goes into the exhaust, thats where you are Ting it out of

I placed the T fitting where the water exits the head prior to entering the pipe. I did this to dry the pipe out, to give it some more power and be able to see the water exiting the hull. Always make sure when drying out your pipe that you do not make it so hot that it cooks the hoses ( pipe to waterbox and waterbox to exit).

Where you "T" it off, which port did you hook up the line running to the manifold? ...the flush kit one? or the one right underneath it?
 
The water inlet from the pump though the buckhead connects the hose to the exhaust manifold/ lower pipe to cool the engine. Then exits the head. From your picture where you put the "T", I would not, that looks like the water inlet to the engine. The fitting in the exmanifold/ lower pipe cools the engine. I'll have pictures tomorrow. I have torn down parts, pipe, hulls etc.

Picture 1, is of the bulkhead. There are two fittings sticking out of the bulkhead, the one on the left with a black hose attached to it is the water inlet (it cools the motor). The one on the right with out a hose is the stock bilge exit. Picture 2, is of the exhaust manifold/ lower pipe. The fitting you see is the pipe inlet (a hose comes from the head to cool the pipe). The cap which can be removed by a slotted screwdriver is for a flush kit. Picture 3 is also of the exhaust manifold/ lower pipe. This fitting is to cool the motor. The black hose from picture 1 connects to this fitting. Hope it helps.

that helps so much! last question though..off of which port could i run a pisser?
