My first sj got a few questions

Thanks shifty for the diagram that helps alot i just set it up like that now. Also the previous owner took off the aftermarket pipe before i bought it thats why i had to put the stock one back on.

A jetx that would be great if i could grab that piece off yea that would be great.

Thanks alot for the help guys, really appreciate it

No problem...shoot me a pm with your address and I will go take a look and drop it in the mail.

are you talking about a 1/8 npt to 1/8" hose barb? if so does he really have 2 fittings on the head already? if not then he should just hook up the 1/8" hose from the elbow piece to the top of the pipe... if not then he will just drill a hole in the head and then block off the 1/8" fitting on the elbow (that would be kinda pointless no?)... maybe you guys are talking about something else... hope he gets it worked out either way.....

Still working on it guys jetx il send you my address right now in a pm. Also ericfox in the diagram you made the inlet comeing from the pump is not there. I only have two inlets/outlets. One 3/8 on the head , one 3/8 on the bottom of the elow. Then one 1/8 on the top of the pipe towards the fuel tank and then one 1/8 at the bottom of the pipe. I went out last night and had cooling issues right away so i no i am not running it right currently. I will have to put some pictures up later this is harder then i thought. Is anybody just running a aftermarket head with the stock pipe that could help us out.

look at it this way... just make sure you have water coming into each part that will get circulated so everything must be connected in some way and end up shooting out that pisser... also you need a little 1/8" line that will supply that little fitting on top of the pipe with a little water to cool the waterbox hose....

so you need water coming in from the pump through the firewall... then into the pipe at some point... then from there it must travel through all your parts in some way and then get sent to the pisser so it is spitting out warm water and sucking in cool from the pump... then you will feel your pisser water to determine if you need restrictors if it is not warming up... the water coming out of the pisser should be pretty hot.... just hot enough that you can hold you hand under it without pain... about 120 degrees or so....

it looks to me by the Yamaha Parts Finder diagram that you should have three 3/8" hose nipples..... one nipple on the manifold, then one on the elbow, and one on the head.... then you also have the 1/8" nipple on the elbow that someone put on there and the 1/8" nipple on the top of the exhaust.... I wish I lived up there so I can see what you are looking at... I hope you get this fixed by the weekend! Summer is flying by man!

right now i had it running into the 3/8 at the bottom of the exhaust elbow then from there out the water travels out to the top of the head and out to the pisser. I thought this would of cooled the engine but it was still overheating. There was a slight dribble out of the pisser but it got to hot and i had to shut it down because i was afraid of overheating.

should be a pretty good stream coming out... check the lines to make sure there is nothing blocking them...

so where is the line from the pisser coming from? From the Yamaha Parts Finder Diagram the supply line from the pump looks like it goes right into the face of the manifold but maybe it does go to the elbow... then it goes from the other 3/8" nipple on the elbow to the nipple on the head and the pisser is hooked up to the T in the middle of that line...

The line from the head you ran to the pisser should have gone to 3/8th barb fitting on the top of the exhaust manifold, becareful though here, there are two fittings side by side here, one is the brass barb and the second is a blue(or whatever color your pipe is) fitting that should have a plug in it where a flush adapter can be installed, make sure to use the barbed fitting, and in the middle of that line (yes I know it is short) you need to put a tee and have the tee run to a pisser.

The way you had it, there was no water running though the pipe to cool it...good choice in shutting it down and catching it early.

This is how it needs to be...take a sec to follow it and you'll understand what I am trying to say.

I think the flow goes like this.... Maybe it has been answered already but I like to color. Also there is a little 1/8" (about 6" long) hose that comes off of the stock exhaust (the piece that says YAMAHA) and connects to the STOCK head that you dont have anymore.

DOH! The picture didn't show up...go back to page one and look at the diagram shifty colored in...

here are some pics showing the stuff

nice ski

you should have another fitting down around the manifold... (actually its about where that black line goes... are you sure thats not hooked up on a 3/8" id fitting?) we cant really see it in the pictures... feel around and see if you can find it... hook that up to the line from your pump... then put take the blue line you have from the jet in the picture above and put a T in the middle of it and have the straight part of the T go to the head and the other 90 degree part go to the pisser... then put that little hose from the bottom of the elbow and put it in place of that little stub you have on the blue piece that says "YAMAHA".... someone confirm....

Yeah thats wrong...

The line you have coming off the head needs to go to the fitting that you have connected to the water line in from the pump...and a tee needs to go in this line to a pisser.

Than you need to route your water line in to another fitting on the bottom side of the manifold which doesn;t look like it is pictured.

You can also run that 1/8th fitting from the front of the head where the block off is to the pipe chamber if you like.

see if that black hose isnt hooked into a bigger fitting than it seems... that is right about where the yamaha diagram shows that pump supply hose going... looks like someone hooks up a scrap piece of hose there... that looks like an old piece of fuel return line... you might find that fitting is a regular 3/8" id hose fitting down there...

can someone tell him if he is cool running the exhaust like that too??? I see he is missing some bolts on the pipe bracket that would normally go on the stock head... dont know if there are any bolt holes on this head to accept the bolts anyways... just trying to help this dude get on the water...
