My custom footholds...opinions?

I designed my own footholds with my weird long flat feet. And this is the first time ever fiber glassing so be easy on me. But, I'm curious as to what people think? Should I make it bigger? Does it look like it will hold up? I'm thinking I might do another layer then start turfing.

I think they should be deeper too. Dig all the way through the foam, at least on the bottom and especially near the toes.

A unproven foothold shape and/or lack of padding can put a real bummer on a season. Like bad bruises on the top of your foot or outside shin that won't friggin heal for months for some reason:rolleyes:

Not saying those are but food for thought.

you may not want to hear it again... I would open them up to allow for turf and more importantly padding. I run 1" padding on the bottom and 8mm on the top of my footholds.
I would also pad around the ankles too. Then allow for 1/4" turf top and bottom. Better to do it now before you put turf down.

Like MADMAT said you will get season long bruises that seem to last forever.

Nice work though.

you will not like those ankle cutouts. the first time you bounce hard it will feel like someone hit you in leg with a hammer. sorry dude. #zero tried the same thing and I tried to tell him. its not a total loss just open the boxed cutout to a wider arc so your leg can pivot forward and back.

I would open the back up more for sure...it looks like you could snap your ankle easily being that enclosed...

In a long shot I would recommend to get pre fabed finished footholds, the time and effort & $$ invested just does not make it worth the hassle...

You can slap those in the tray in a day and be done with.

I work very little, so I have plenty of time on my hands. I don't want to be told I can buy things...anyone can. I'm here to learn and make mistakes.

Anyway, so these modifications need to be made?

Also, is there a problem with people not using shoe's? I don't like to wear shoes in water. I like to hop off my boat, and jump on my ski, and hop off my ski and go skiing. lol

i think id be inclined to remove the back section of the foot hold on the top of the hull, cos looks like it will at best bruise, at worst break something

be carefull also taking too much out on your foot section as you also want it snug once the padding/turf and boots are on, most foot holds have some sort of ledge that comes down over the top of your foot so you have some purchase when pulling up...

as for riding with out shoes.... personal choice, but for grip shoes are better, plus they offer additional protection to your foot and ankles

Thank you!

I see what you mean. I knew that was tight and it was already causing a problem and this was before I did anything else. I think I'm going to make it much bigger.

You're talking about removing this whole section?

Also, not to sound like a pee-pee heard or arrogant but say if I did happen to make it to the shape of a certain shoe, most likely wouldn't I have to always use that shoe?

Sorry didnt mean to step on you toe's

Was just suggesting that buying them finished saves time and hassle...nevertheless here is the modification I would suggest...to prevent breaking your ankle basically opening up the back , also easier to slip in.

As for the toe section if you do not consider padding you might be able to squeeze in with turf only otherwise as on someones previous post would recommend to open that up a little too....check waterdags kustomz website for rev footholds and it will give you a great idea of what i mean. Good Luck !!

No problem. I was just saying.

Yeah, I was originally going to buy those holds since he lives like 20 minutes from my house but I was tired of his lack of communication and decided i'd rather make my own.

So, is that cut angled or is it straight back?
