these are for a teen girl so fashion is really more important than function)

so i guess what i am trying to figure out is if the bent knees in the pants are going to be a problem.

thanks

Yep, Harrison understands - he is pretty big on fashion over function as well.

I used MX style pants one time, and never will again, board shorts are the way to go. The Runabout guys can use them because if they become unbuttoned, it doesn't mess with their feet as much as it does for a ski racer.

Maybe have them hemmed shorter? I know you wouldn't DK, but for the fashion show...

What about some nylon sort of track pants. I had a pair in highschool that were pants, made of a thin nylon/poly that could have dried sort of quick, that wouldn't hold much water, that unzipped at the knee. The might get sticky when wet though.

I have worn mx pants in the snow and the water and they can be a bonus layer for blocking wind, depending on the brand some may become water logged or add weight you dont want. I can swim real good in a wetsuit. Pants may slow down a swim for a ski. A couple of years ago I bought some really nice Volcom snowboard pants that I think would be great in the water.

But if she looks good thats is all that matters right ???

If your daughter is serious about racing then I would for get the mx pants. They will interfer with her ability to perform. It's best to get use to a wet suit...it provides protection and doesn't slow you down. If she wants to be fashionable...I see many wear board shorts over their wet suit. Further more, I would suggest to wear the same gear you practice in as to the same gear you are going race with.
