I'd go for the ATP EPIC instead.
A little bit more money, but a lot more reliable and fully programmable.

I'd contact Jetworks - they're in your area, stock the EPIC ignition and Art should be able to set you up with a decent curve.

Msd Enhancer , new on fleabay, $234 (and up). Epic from ATP about $340 plus UPS shipping which is a bit pricey but only 2days usually. Curve is already loaded and should be satisfactory for most anyone. - no need to get all scientific about it-. Don't know Jet Works price - maybe someone will post it ?

advent ignitions are verry good too. They give you 5 1/2 times the spark of a oem ignition with 4 timeing curves programed in it. You can also send it back to advent to get custom curves programed

it was the older units that had issues and greg was exchangeing them for new ones. I've never seen one go bad. Only seen a few that weren't right out of the box. Feels almost like running t.l. But it charges. The unit can also be used as a total loss that is sealed in the ebox like the flame

shoot... im not sure. didnt see prices on the web site. they are focusing on the t4 ignitions now witch you can program like an epic. but the newer t3 and t4 ignitions have a remote switch that mounts outside the ebox th switch between the 4 curves on the fly. ohh and the programming software is free too. theres a couple guys i ride with that have bean running the same unit for 6+ years

<<<< considering selling my unopened msd and getting a epic....
great idea!!!! not only are the msds unrelaible and sensetive but their customer service sucks! chris from atp is on the boards all the time supporting his products. not to mention a few of the major engine builders are recomending them now...

My original MSD was first used in 1999 and ran just fine through 2006. I swapped it out thinking it was dead only to find that the issue was something else. I would not hesitate to put it back in and run it now.. So your looking at one that is over 10 years old and still ticking. Only issue I ever had was ends corroding from alot of salt water riding years back.

My MSD is over 10+ years old... still works perfectly.

When talking to John at JSS he suspected it was just a run of MSD's that were very prone to failure.

At the time he was bullet proofing my ebox and I had the option to keep running my older ignition or a brand new one I had in the box... He encourage me to run the older unit which he replaced all the bullet connectors.

yea some people have good luck with them. but me and alot of the people i ride with havent. and the horror stories on here are a dime a dozen. but..... i also realize that alot of those horror stories arent the msd units goin bad, but are due to bad stators or wires breaking that just get blamed on the msd. my biggest beef with the msd enhancers is how mellow their curve actually is. i never felt a difference at all.

That was my biggest problem with the Enchancers, too. Back when they retailed for less than $180, it wasn't too bad.

Buddy of mine has 1 that he has had for almost as long as mine, and his other ski, well, a few of the bad apples.
