I am timing up this MSD total loss and with the plate fully advanced I am only getting 22 degrees static out of it,does that even sound close to right?

I had to do some cutting on mine to get it to 33. The way it was, I think I could only get 26-27, and it didn't take long to get it to where it needed to be.

Old anolog systems...You MUST set timing through the RPM range with a timing light as sometimes the CDI boxes and chips didn't do as they say, I don't have any info with the accessory switches. Yes, I have also had to slots some Seadoo MSD plates in the past to get more static advance, but be careful about a lot of static timing, as the analogs don't have a lot of retard, compared to the new digital MSD's. I liked to shoot for no more than 17-18* degrees @ 7400 RPM's on the factory piped 720's on race fuel @ 215 lbs cranking.

Seems like they have enough retard to me ,if you can pull 5 degrees per thousand thats enough, even with my 3 degree per thousand chip I can still run 28 static and pull off 12 degrees that leaves 16 @ 7400 rpms when the retard selector comes in I can run more static than that.
