My midshaft housing took a dump on my Superjet SN so I replaced it and also replaced the midshaft itself. All new bearings and seals and also I put on new couplers. The issue is the midshaft has some side to side movement. If I hold the housing in my right hand and grab the midshaft with my left hand it moves around a bit. I am guessing the single bearing has a little bit of play in it. Should I be concerned or just run it? Thanks!

I decided I didn't want to tear apart the midshaft housing to inspect it. So unless anyone says I shouldn't run it I'm going to run it. Im thinking the bearing was designed this way. Besides, it has a rubber damper on the couplers so it shouldnt have much movement in it.

Typically people ask if they're new midshaft assembly is too tight- never too loose. Sounds like you might have something wrong.

Movement in the bearing or movement in the rubber between the inner and outer parts of the housing?
If I remember correctly, there are 3 seals. 2 at the back 1 at the front. 1 bearing in the middle and a circlip/snap ring that holds the bearing in its place. I pressed the midshaft with my shop press and spinning it has resistance from the seals. There is no in and out play.
I used all oem parts. I just don't want to tear it apart and ruin a seal and wait for shipping again.

Something went wrong there, or the circlip c-clip bearing retainer thingy isnt installed properly.
I have walked a mechanic through the parts diagram at an auto parts repair shop to rebuild a midshaft on holiday, done one myself with hf press, and had jetmaniac do them, and never this issue.

I'm guessing complete disassembly is required at this point? I doubt I'll be able to save the seals.
Sounds like any play is not good.
Maybe it takes a certain level of skill to screw this up! Lol
And just to make sure. This is play at the end of the coupler. Not the midshaft at the bearing. It would be minimal of it was at the housing.

Check out a local bearing supply place by you. Mine had the bearings, may have the seals too. They're listed somewhere here on the x
